REVENGE OF FRANKENSTEIN-58-For Hammer fans who might have been to young to catch their flicks in theatres when they opened, This effort might have been their first constant exposure of a Hammer Film Put into syndication by the end of the 60's and shown to death on local stations into the early mid 70's.CHANNEL 9 IN NEW YORK might have almost shown this film as much as KING KONG in those days , along with KING KONG VS GODZILLA. Since on cable, film is shown once in a while.

FRANKNESTEIN CREATED WOMAN-67- was first shown on THE CBS LATE MOVIE in the early 70's. It was later put into that great syndication package to local stations in America in 1976, shown pretty often. WNEW TV CHANNEL 5 IN NEW YORK showed it against the 1978 Super bowl game.In recent decades it has been on cable once in a while on stations like TNT,TCM ETC .

Tomorrow, Sunday, October 21st, TCM is showing both Max Fleischer animated classics, GULLIVER'S TRAVELS (1939), and HOPPITY GOES TO TOWN (1941), followed by an hour's worth of classic UPA cartoons, such as the original GERALD McBOINGBOING, THE UNICORN IN THE GARDEN, and several others, from the early 1900's.

Both GULLIVER and HOPPITY (which was originally titled MR. BUG GOES TO TOWN), have been in the public domain for years, with middling quality in the prints, and it is to be hoped that the prints shown by TCM will be of high quality.

BTW: as many of you know, GULLIVER has a wonderful background score by Victor Young, with some lovely orchestral interludes, not all of which were included on the Stromberg/Morgan re-recording.

They are both well worth watching.

THE RAVEN-63- MURDERS IN THE RUE MORGUE-32- and THE BLACK CAT-34- all have been shown often in syndication over the years. SPIRITS OF THE DEAD-69 and DEAD MEN WALK-43- have been on TV once in a while over the years. But the big find here is FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER-49-a extreme obscure film which i can't recall ever being on cable or free TV, possibly way back in pre 1965 TV days?

On Friday, November 9th, from 2 PM to 4 PM the THIS Channel will be running "The Fuzzy Pink Nightgown," starring Jane Russell. This 1957 film was produced by Jane Russell's own production company, which she owned with her husband Robert Wakefield. In her autobiography, Russell stated that director Norman Taurog, who had made a number of films with Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, had tried to interest Martin in playing the role of "Mike," which was eventually played by Ralph Meeker.

"The Fuzzy Pink Nightgown" has only appeared on video as an Amazon-exclusive VHS tape. Perhaps it will eventually show up on an MOD DVD-R from the MGM Limited Edition Collection, but for now, this showing is one of the rare chances to see it.

Copies of Billy May's score are still available on a Kritzerland CD:
