OK let's get serious, here's a little list of titles that I'd have to buy (love to buy) if they were released, looking very good on Blu-ray (region B). If they all came out at once I'd maybe have to sell a kidney: Black & White The Ghostbreakers '40 The Sea Hawk '40 They Died With Their Boots On '41 They Were Expendable '45 The Thing '51 Laughter In Paradise '51 The Big Sky '52 Private's Progress '56 Dunkirk '58 Danger Within '59 The Pure Hell Of St. Trinians '60 What A Carve Up! '61 Three b/w Universal box sets: Universal Classic Horrors: The Sequels Universal 50's Sc-Fi Movies The Hope/Crosby "Road To" movies Colour Dodge City '39 Unconquered '47 Samson & Delilah '49 She Wore A Yellow Ribbon '49 Scaramouch '52 Brigadoon '54 Land Of The Pharaohs '55 This Island Earth '55 Teahouse Of The August Moon '56 The Vikings '58 L'il Abner '59 The Mummy '59 The Alamo '60 Curse Of The Werewolf '60 One-Eyed Jacks '61 The Pit & The Pendulum '61 The Phantom Of The Opera '61 Tales Of Terror '62 Taras Bulba '62 Kiss Of The Vampire '62 The Raven '63 Tom Jones '63 The Long Ships '63 Irma La Douce '63 Lord Jim '64 She '64 Rio Conchos '64 The Great Race '65 The Sons Of Katie Elder '65 What's New Pussycat '66 A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum '66 The Jokers '66 I'll Never Forget What's 'is Name '67 The President's Analyst '68 Start The Revolution Without Me '70 The Last Valley '71 Gui La Testa '71 & Bad Boys 2 I'll take a look at this list a year from now, hopefully there'll be more than a handful that have been released. Ah, in my previous life as CinemaScope I posted this list. Alas none of the b/w films have made an appearance, but 16 of the colour ones have. There's a few I can't play as they're region locked to A, & some not so good transfers, but overall not bad at all. And there's This Island Earth coming from Germany next month, Bad Boys 2 listed as being released late November early December in Australia & Scandinavia (I'll believe it when it happens). Universal working on One-Eyed Jacks, hopefully for release next year, also they're working on some of the horror sequels, maybe for next Halloween. Oh, & The Son Of Frankenstein & Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman coming out in France in October. I have the German Open Range & it looks very nice. EDIT. & I read on another site the Bad Boys 2 is getting a US release on November 10th.

The President's Analyst '68 Actually '67 I just got through watching it. Today, December 21st, is the 49th anniversary of it's opening in 1967. I watched it in HD, streaming from Amazon Prime, though I had to pay $4 for it. It looked nice, but unfortunately, the element scanned is the same IP used for the 2004 DVD. Maybe for its 50th Anniversary next year it can get a 4K restoration, Paramount? I'm sure Criterion would snap it up. A dated satire for sure, but it still holds up remarkably well, and some of what it has to say is amazingly relevant to today, you know... like the soon-to-be president really, really needing an analyst. We can only hope! (And for a Blu-ray next year, too!) I rate the movie 7.5 out of 10.

The Abyss...was supposed to be out in 2017. Cameron's busy writing the screenplay for Avatar 7, I guess. Also, Red Eye. Surprisingly quality Hitchcockian late entry from Wes Craven with two charismatic leads who played wonderfully off each other and a thrilling Scream-esque finale.
