Why are Federation security guards so dumb in Star Trek?

Security Guard- "Carbon based unites?"
McCoy- "Humans Ensign Perez, us."

Shouldn't Chewbacca have also received a medal or at least gotten a "participation trophy" at the end of Star Wars?

Biggs didn't get a medal either.

From the pilot seat in the Falcon, did Han ever glance over at Chewbacca and tell him in no uncertain terms to finally do something about his butt stink?

Han: "CHEWIE! K POOTZ!! (Che puzza c' 'e qui!!) Even a Great Dane would smell better than you after this much time in space! You hear me bro?"

In their never ending goose (or is it ghost?) chase quest to find and verify the escaped Hitler's hidden hideouts after the war will the Mystery Channel crew finally stumble upon a Bigfoot instead in those woods? Al Capone's treasure maybe? How many more episodes will it take before they finally admit they've found nothing? Stay tuned, right?

Does Josh Gates (Destination Truth, Expedition Unknown, etc.) ever find anything?

Remember when shows like "In Search of Ancient Mysteries" (narrated by the great Rod Serling) and "In Search Of " narrated by Leonard Nimoy were listed in the TV Guide as "Speculation" programs? Nimoy's "In Search Of " actually had a disclaimer during the credits admitting as much.

These two were the granddaddy's of all the Bigfoot, UFO, and Paranormal programs that populate certain cable channels both day and night now and this stuff is popular. They should really change the Destination America Channel's name to The Haunted House Channel. Or The Paranormal Channel. Even Erich von Daniken pops his head in on some of those shows from time to time. A blast from my 70's childhood paperback book past. I seriously thought the guy died years ago but lo and behold he's still around.

I really enjoyed the Serling and Nimoy shows back then. Today's versions are so hyped and one-sided, I don't even bother. There's so much "What was that, did you hear that, did you see that?", with the "that" being nothing every time it seems. Ghosts only haunt at night and make noises that are indistinguishable from those you'd normally hear in an old building, but all of them have a supernatural but unproven source and everyone is so frightened of their own shadows. I'd love to see someone punk them and watch their reactions!

Always with the night vision glasses effect to add to the "tension". They all do this sort of thing now.

And it doesn't really add much to the credibility when a bunch of good ol' boys in a pickup truck show up to attempt to communicate with the "ghosts".

Speaking of Erich von Daniken, do you remember a fellow named Charles Berlitz?

Berlitz became famous in the mid 1970's for a book called The Bermuda Triangle. When I was a kid this professorial looking guy with the LeRoy Neiman style mustache was all over the place on talk shows and in print media promoting this book. He looked convincing enough, right? And soon afterwards there were all the speculative television shows about it. Even movies. Berlitz died in 2003. In an age well before the internet all this stuff was pretty fascinating to young people like myself. It sold books. Paperback versions were cheap and Berlitz a lot of other folks surely made some money back then. It's now 2018. When was the last time you heard anything about the Bermuda Triangle other than in this post?

Great post, ANZALDIMAN! I was way into all that UFO and "Devil's Triangle" stuff in the mid 60s to early 70s. "Crash Go The Chariots" really helped me to become more skeptical even though somewhat of a pariah to some of my friends whom were Von Daniken believers then.

That was the one major letdown for me in CE3K, when the officers and crew of Flight 19 came out of the mother ship; I just thought they could've done without that, especially out of respect for the family members of the men who actually perished in that flight. That's just my opinion, of course.

So I shouldn't feel "alone" for having bought the IN SEARCH OF... dvd boxed set a couple of years ago?

"Ancient Astronauts" was quite a thing in the 1970s, wasn't it?

Will this year's Oscars include "Diversity of Thought in Hollywood" in the "In Memoriam" segment?

And so were Avocado and Harvest Gold colored kitchen appliances. All things must pass, right?

Did you buy that IN SEARCH OF... dvd boxed set more for the nostalgia of Nimoy's turtlenecks and sport jackets or for the severely dated content within?

I think we are about the same age solium. I was about 13 or 14 when I first saw it. It certainly had an effect because it was unique for it's time. Plus, having Nimoy as the host was a big draw for folks our age.

Why do men pass out on amusement park rides more than women?

Because more men ride amusement park rides?
