Looking at the expression on Rod Serling's face on the D.V.D. case cover, he wasn't happy with what was going on with the show (considering his involvement was somewhat miminal, aside from hosting the series).

The final season of "Night Gallery" FINALLY makes it to DVD!

By the way, I HATE the cover art on this release. Why is Rod Serling standing in a ghetto?
This image has absolutely nothing to do with Night Gallery, and doesn't have
anything to do with the types of stories that were presented on the show.
Actually the covers for seasons 1 & 2 were nothing brag about, either. The cover for
Season 1 showed Rod standing in what appeared to be a hallway in a high school,
bathed in a garish blue light. Universal sort of got it right with season 2.
At least the image behind Serling was one of the actual Night Gallery paintings.
But it was too big, bloated and kinda blurry. I don't understand why they can't just use
high resolution screen captures of Rod Serling and a few of the paintings from
one of his actual introductions. Oh well. I guess I can make my own cover artwork. smile
I'm just glad Universal has finally finished releasing the entire series.

Next week S6 of "Adam-12" finally makes it after an interminable 16 month wait. Shout at least will not make us wait just as long for the final season as they are fast-tracking S7 in the next three months!

Finally at long last, the "Big Three" of Jack Webb produced shows of the late 60s and 70s are complete on DVD at last!

Is that DVD cover deceiving us? I thought Reed and Malloy looked more "mutton choppy" by the seventh season (about 1974-75).

Reed yes, but Malloy tended to hold back against that trend for the most part. Martin Milner didn't start having a bad hair day until he started doing "Swiss Family Robinson" the season after "Adam-12" ended! smile

Laverne And Shirley gets unstalled after four years with S5.

Eight Is Enough's brief first season (with Mark Hamill in the pilot movie, done at a time when he had no idea "Star Wars" was going to become such a big hit) also makes it to DVD.

Only to the degree that CBS/Paramount I think is trying to capitalize on Newhart fans who are fed up with waiting for Fox to unstall both the original Bob Newhart Show and Newhart, that they think they'll go for this.

Yeah, except that the show wasn't very good. I'll bet they sell very few.

What a day April 10 is going to be! On that day THREE classic TV shows will be completed on DVD, with Adam-12, Night Gallery and now Car 54, Where Are You? as well!

A couple years ago, the best way to tell what was on the horizon from CBS/Paramount was to check the CBS Syndication Bible website where one could learn which programs in their inventory were undergoing HD transfer. That was always the best leading indicator for what shows/seasons were being prepped for eventual DVD release.

The site stopped being reliable or providing updates but is now coming through again with some "leading indicators" that suggest what we'll be hearing about before too long.

Streets Of San Francisco S3
The Untouchables S4 (will finish the run)
Vegas! S3 (will finish the run)

Just where do you find this CBS SYNDICATION BIBLE? Is there a website?
Anyway, this is GREAT news, if true. I already have all the dvd sets
that CBS/PARAMOUNT has released so far, on all three of these shows.
I also hope that they get around to releasing seasons 2 thru 5 of
HOTEL. It has quickly become one of my favorite shows from the 80's.

Thanks. And don't call me sweetheart. big grin

I took a peak at this bible thingy and don't see
anything, anywhere on the site that indicates these
shows are getting continued on dvd. Am i missing
something? Is there a trick to using this site, because
I honestly don't see how you conclude that show x
is getting released on dvd or not.

I believe if a show is listed as having been transferred to HD indicates the dvds will also be forthcoming...or something. Under "Latest Revisions and Additions" you'll see the updated info.
