THE WONDER OF YOU (1990)
Wacky talking-dog movie with Dan Akroyd as the voice of Elvis. Elvis is re-incarnated as a mutt called Hunk-a-Love. Hunk-a-Love has run away from a mean guy who beats him. Hunk-a-Love is on an adventure in search of a family to love (ahhhhh, can't you feel the warm-and-fuzzies now?). On the road, Hunk-a-Love tells us all what Elvis' life would be like had he survived the drugs and the fried peanut-butter-and-banana sandwiches. Nora Dunn, Robert Klein, Sylvia Miles, Brad Hall, Jack Weston, and Benji as himself. Music by Arlo Guthrie

Truly inspired.

BACK JACK DO IT AGAIN (2011; TVM; HBO)
Directed by David Schwimmer.

Someone on another board reminded of this one, but I was unsuccessful for years at tracking down the opening credits. All I can say is -wow. This should have made the WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN list, but alas, someone actually made it happen!

Those Hollywood cretins are already stealing ideas from this thread!

This "new" project was announced:

THE ODD LIFE OF TIMOTHY GREEN---movie in which an infertile mother finds her baby son growing in the soil. The new son magically brings happiness to those around him. Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton star.

http://filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=88865&forumID=7&archive=0

But I already covered that concept in this here thread:

THE APPLES OF AUGUST (1978; TVM; NBC)
Directed by Jeannot Szwarc.
After losing their son to leukemia, a middle-aged couple (William Shatner, Brenda Vaccaro) discovers an apple tree growing in the middle of their fourth floor apartment, bringing comfort to all who eat its fruit. George Dzundza; Joan Hackett; Gary Burghoff; David Speilberg.

Yeah, this is disturbing. Isn't this the second movie where Jennifer Garner plays an infertile mother? (Think Juno)

I've seen this. Or, at least I want to see this. How odd that they'd let us know it was in color. By '79, I'd have thought it was a given, even if we did still have a B&W TV set as a spare.

PADDY CHAYEFSKY`S `FUCK YOU, LIFE!` [1975] Eli Wallach is horribly miscast as a retired championship basketball player whose drunken midnight drive to the corner store results in a young girl [Jodie Foster] becoming a crippled-for-life glue-sniffing door-to-door Amway salesgirl. Wallach finds redemption by founding a food pantry and swearing a lot [the ten-minute `did I ever tell you what happened to your pet wallabee?` scene is already an acting-class classic of embarassment], but ultimately his star falls, and he returns to basketball after signing with the knicks for several million dollars. Music by The Village People. Viveca Lindfors, Ruth Buzzy, Vic Tayback, Robert Blake as `Douchebag Flanagan`
