Which would go against how it was in the film, which is what the release is about. I'm all for C&C but sometimes film order doesn't make for a great listening experience. I'm fine with moving cues around, especially when I am not at all familiar with the film. Sorry solium, but the CD really needs to be in the order it is for those of us who are familiar with the film. As I said in a different thread, "El Bimbo" is my least favorite track on the CD.

They really covered all the bases on this one. This was the first Black Friday album I listened to after sprinting back from the mail box and as one of the resident 80s kids 'round here, I was wearing a grin the entire time. Folk seems to use the main theme more often in this film than the other ones. The sultry jazz music comes back in future films, too. And if I recall, the climaxes for 2, 4, and 6 are all heavily orchestral while the climaxes for 3 and 5 (both set on the water) are more contemporaneous. After reading the liner notes, one wonders what Elmer Bernstein might've come up with if he hadn't been busy. I dunno, I love the music but the score doesn't go anywhere, seems directionless. I always felt similarly about the movie. IMHO, it's not edited very well and there's a stop and start quality to everything... and then in the third act, our heroes get thrown into an arbitrary conflict (not unlike Stripes). It may sound like damning with faint praise but PA2 is better structured than this one. Hopefully, that will be evident in the score if/when LLL releases it.

I love this release and I was so excited to finally hear it. I even went back and watched the first two movies and I agree. I think the music is actually better in PA 2. Hopefully the next installment is not too far away. I still think Folk is a seriously underrated composer. There are a number of his scores that I really enjoy.

Some of the highlights for me include "Night Rounds" (hauntingly funny), "Recruits" (almost sounds like something out of A-Team), "Formation" (for Harris' catchy theme ), "Martin and Company" (for the sexy sax), "Guns" (love this rendition of the main theme), "Riot starts" (hilariously camp), "SOB" (someone needs to sample that opening riff, it is gold) and of course "El Bimbo". A lot of the cues have that trademark Elmer Bernstein's comedy sound but I prefer Folk as he seems more adept at incorporating different genres and styles, whereas with Bernstein that sometimes backfired, compared to Ghostbusters of the same year where most of Bernstein's attempts at cool music got rejected for songs instead. Folk seems to have street cred or at least some black ancestry.

It is embarrassing how much fun this score is. It's so splashy and vibrant, and I love the shift to the more urban thriller sound in the latter portion of the score. I'm definitely interested in more of Folk's music for this franchise.

Finally received my copy. Wow, what a fun score. The only downside. Now I want the other PA scores even more. Does anyone know how the CD is selling? I mean the more succesful it is the better are chances for more PA releases. Although I unfortunately doubt that they will release all scores
