Danza Macabre - Riz Ortolani (CDDM 242)
"Digitmovies, in collaboration with the Sugar Group, is pleased to present, for the first time on CD the complete OST by Riz Ortolani from the gothic black and white film "Blood Castle", directed in 1964 by Antonio Margheriti. To make this CD (53:10) we were able to access the mono master tapes of the original recording session, publishing every note recorded at the time. Riz Ortolani composed a perfect OST to describe the gothic atmosphere of the story."
La Regina dei Tartari - Bruno Canfora (CDDM 251)
"Digitmovies continues it's musical journey in the Italian Peplum by publishing volume XXIX of the series; the complete OST by Bruno Canfora from the movie "La Regina dei Tartari" (aka "The Huns" - "Queen of the Tartars") directed in 1960 by Sergio Grieco. For our CD, which lasts 45:18 minutes, we used every note contained in the mono master tapes of the original recording session. Maestro Canfora, for this particular OST, removed the strings and used only the brass, woodwind and percussion (same artistic choice by Mario Nascimbene for "Alessandro il Grande"). These create atmospheres with an ancient flavour, between heroic and mysterious, alternating with vigorous music for battle, and the recurring presence of a delicate love theme."
Trinità e Sartana figli di... - Carlo Savina (CDDM 253)
"Digitmovies continues it's musical journey, through the scorching desert lands of the Italian Western, by publishing for the first time in it’s entirety on CD and in full stereo, the OST by Carlo Savina for the movie “Trinità e Sartana figli di…” (aka "Trinity and Sartana are coming") directed in 1972 by Mario Siciliano. For this CD, which lasts 50:53 minutes, we used every note preserved in the master tapes, in stereo from the original recording session. Carlo Savina has written a nice OST based on a recurring funny and light-hearted theme in a beat key, which is a good representation of the two hapless protagonists. The author alternates this motive with mysterious music, saloon style pieces and a romantic love theme with a Lounge flavour."

Since I know nothing about these films and will only be purchasing them because of the composers/ genres I have very little to add.
I'm excited about getting em! How's that?

why why why no sound samples from Digitmovies?!?!
Sound samples can probably be found at SAE and youtube (I mean song clips, not full movies) for half of the Digitmovies releases. I remember using that for composers I didn't know at the time (Micalizzi, de Luca, Gaslini, etc).
If you get that far, you probably don't need samples anymore, and like me, only the description, composer, year, movie genre will probably be enough to decide which one to buy first.
Although if course, it doesn't solve the problem for the newest releases. I agree it is difficult to discuss them, but they will not sell out immediately, and these threads could still be used to review/discuss them.

I buy all the peplum scores, though, by definition, this one is pretty marginal. Seems like a sequel to GOLIATH AND THE BARBARIANS (U.S. title), if only because of the presence of Chelo Alonso.
Still, I get all the peplum scores. Used to love seeing these back in the early 60's. Great fun.
Still wish they'd release the scores for THE MINOTAUR, or THE COLOSSUS OF RHODES...
But I am grateful for any of these releases, since I had assumed they were all lost to time.

Do you have La Vergine Di Norimberga? While I haven't heard the new one, the genre seems similar.
Yes, I have THE VIRGIN OF NUREMBURG on a C.A.M. CD from the 1990s (coupled with his CASANOVA).
Also, I have Hexacord's Ortolani giallo disc of Fulci's DON'T TORTURE A DUCKING, & WEB OF THE SPIDER (which I read, but never saw, was a remake of DANZA MACABRA).
THE VIRGIN OF NUREMBERG is rather brassy in comparison to DANZA MACABRA, and it has a big band tune as its main title theme!
In DON'T TORTURE A DUCKLING, Ortolani uses plucked strings with echo-delay, which sounds to me like a 2nd-rate mimicking of Jerry Goldsmith's PLANET OF THE APES.
Whatever NELLA STRETTA MORSA DEL RAGNO sounds like, I don't remember.
Don't know how many folks are familiar with "The Duplicate Man" episode of THE OUTER LIMITS, but this one of the OL segments which come to my mind when hearing Ortolani's score for CASTLE OF BLOOD.
