I like Eidelman's Christopher Columbus Discovery and Star Trek VI. I also like his "The Tempest" symphonic suite that he recorded for a Varese Shakespeare CD.
What is this Meteor Man score like? Fully orchestral? A lot of synth? I suspect it might be a bit too comedic for me.

Not at all familiar with this score, but I like the suite. Only other Eidelman I have is Star Trek 6.

I hear similarities to ST VI and a lot of otherwise grand action music. Never saw the movie. Sounds like it was scored straight up instead of going for a comedic tone.

Reminds me of Robert Folk's grand fantasy action music, will give this a go.

It's not comedy music.
It's full-on orchestral mode Super Hero music (think Superman meets Hoffa) with some dark choral work thrown in for good measure.
It's a no-brainer!

yeah... it sounds kind of David Newman's, right?

I had hard tome finishing that suite. Nice brassy theme, but too much "busy" action.

Having never seen the film, I was actually going to pass on this one, but, based on a single listen to the above suite, I've totally changed my mind. What a nice, addictive main theme--reminds me a little of THE LAST STARFIGHTER.

("Never say never.")

A fun angle for Williams fans, while watching the film, is to try to pick out all the obvious temp-track selections from Star Wars. Robert Townsend was clearly a fan.

Seriously, no matter what the project I think Cliff Eidelman is one of the few composers working in film who has never produced a bad score...only ones that may disappoint a bit compared with others efforts of his.

I hope his unreleased back catalogue continues to be explored -- expansions/remasters besides STVI would be great, too!

Just a bit too much "Superman" about it, which I'd find distracting.
I agree with those praising Eidelman and from the suite above it sounds like typically outstanding orchestral scoring. His Christopher Columbus score is a favorite of mine. But the mock-Superman flavor of this new release puts me off.
