I watched Independence Day yesterday (3/25) and drank some wine in his honor. Rest in peace!

I think it's a bit dark to race to start a soundtrack ranking thread immediately after an actor has died. I think it's disrespectful to try to reduce someone's life and work down to music that happened to be heard in a movie that the person acted in. In this case, we're talking about a character actor who never had a starring role in a picture, and whose name I'd wager most of us on here didn't even know until we saw his obituary in the news the other day. I don't know much about him, honestly, but he sounds like a nice guy, and I think he probably deserves more significant discussion than whether the MEET THE PARENTS soundtrack is a better listen than the MY COUSIN VINNY soundtrack this week. Well, feel free NOT to participate in the discussion.

I can surely see what you are saying, and this board has grown some rather trivial habits the past couple years, I think because largely there is a lack of things to talk about aside from new releases. Some of these topics are downright trivial like this one, which I guess you could see trivialize rather than honor the man. Beyond that I am not really sure what the point of it is, I mean Rebhorn did not have anything to do with the score.

CARLITO'S WAY, by Patrick Doyle. DePalma gets the best out of his composers.

I think, like how John put it, if the guy's like a character actor that would never have a Silva America compilation named after him ("THE UPTIGHT COMBOVER: MUSIC FROM THE FILMS OF JAMES REBHORN"), tributes about his actual work in the film's he appeared in would be perfectly acceptable over at the Non-Film Score Discussion, rather than shoehorning in a "Best Score To A Movie In Which James Rebhorn Had _Maybe_ Three Lines" thread on this side of the page.
