I don't think this has been mentioned. La La Land's SHANE CD by Victor Young is now sold out. And that was issued at 2,000 copies!

Glad to see this. It's one of the best westerns ever made and so is Victor Young's wonderful score.
Golden Age scores will sell out much of the time.

Congrats MV! I hope this will encourage you to issue a few more golden age scores best you can.

Thanks! smile

filmsonwax, the SHANE CD is gone at SAE and Intrada, but it's on ebay and Amazon at $29.99 and (way) up. Better grab it now.

Wow! Victor Young is hot today!

A few hours ago I mentioned that LLL's SHANE, at 2,000 copies, is now sold out.

I also mentioned that ebay has a copy for $29.99 and two copies on Amazon at $29.99 each.
All 3 copies sold quickly. Now the lowest cost SHANE CD on Amazon is $68.98 and up to $149.98! Yikes!

Victor Young sells! smile

Good news indeed Peter! I wonder if any of the other labels will bring out more Victor Young music?

I don't know Niall, but I sure hope so. Bruce has said he plans three more Victor Young CDs for Kritzerland although he has other CDs coming first. I wouldn't be unhappy if a label did a few Max Steiner CDs! smile

Bruce is doing great work for sure! Still so many of my favourite Steiner scores unreleased after all these years, The Big Sleep, Now Voyager, The FBI Story, Springfield Rifle, A Dispatch from Reuter's, Rome Adventure, The Hanging Tree, Come Next Spring, So Big, Rocky Mountain and so many more. I don't think we will see very many of them released even if the tapes still exist, disappointing really at this stage.

It can also be downloaded from iTunes. Why would they credit the orchestra as the "M.G.M. Studio Orchestra" when "Shane" was released by Paramount?

I would like to see those Steiner scores released, and many others too.

I've mentioned this before, BYU and SAE did issue a lot of Steiner CDs a few years back, recent years have brought little from them. Morgan/Stromberg newly recorded a great number. FSM, LLL, Intrada, Varese, Kritzerland etc. have issued just about nothing. What is the reason for this? Steiner was such a giant in his day. Well, we can always hope Niall.
