On amazon marketplace one guy kept changing price back and forth between 39 and 69. Another Amazin marketplace sold "brand new" with disc scratches and missing 12 page booklet. eBay tale on here about its a wonderful life where every time sells copies keeps going up in price.http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?pageID=4&forumID=1&threadID=103829&archive=0
I ordered a copy of Patrick Doyle's The Last Legion from an Amazon Marketplace seller. After it shipped, I got an email saying they had to refund me my money because the case was badly cracked and they didn't feel right taking my money.
When I got it in the mail, the case was fine - there was simply a long line of adhesive from the top spine sticker that ran down and only looked like a crack. So I basically got that CD for free.
Another time I ordered a copy of Empire Of The Sun and they sent me two. When I offered to return it, they said to keep it.
Finding the sold out LLL Godzilla CD on Amazon for only 30 bucks and having it come in in perfect condition! When lot of times OOP CD's like that go in the hundreds range.
I have never ordered from either Amazon or eBay and I will never do so therefore I cannot tell any stories from that.
However I do have one soundtrack story that might be of interest. One time some years ago I ordered a few CD`s from Harry Manfredini`s official site. One of them being "Friday the 13th". The thing that makes it worth telling is the day the package arrived, it was on, yeah you guessed it right, it arrived on a friday and it was the 13th. How cool wasn`t that?
Well I now own the Friday the 13th box from LLL but I do kept that single CD, maybe because it is signed by Harry Manfredini and/or because of that story.
Found a sealed Star Wars Anthology on ebay, but lost the bid at the last second. Got emailed by the seller saying they did have another one but there was a small amount of damage to the case where a price label had been. Brought it at a lower price than the original item but before it got sent I got an email from the seller saying that the buyer of the original one hadn't paid so they would be sending me the sealed one instead.
There are nice people out there and the Anthology is now a treasured part of my soundtrack collection.
I'd say the weirdest was as a seller. I sold a disc through Amazon Marketplace to Europe (North's Les Miserables FWIW) and later got it returned to me with a note that the buyer was unwilling to pay for customs but to not refund him since it was his fault. I had to wonder why he bothered in the first place.

But you did have the time to post here on a topic that you have nothing to add to?
Nothing better to do with your time?
Ford A. Thaxton
This comes from a man who should know a lot better. You mister Thaxton have several times replied to topics that you should have not.
No one got offended by my story that you apparently did not read. So unless you yourself has a story to tell then we are 2 people on this thread that has nothing better to do.
I am amazed that this board administrator had not reacted to the fact that you have the gift of insulting people on this forum. I have told a story that I thought was in a way related.
Maybe I should have started a new topic just because of that story but when I read those other stories I thought of that particular story.

According to whom exactly And who decides?
Care to answer that?

What story, you said you didn't order from either service?
So if you haven't, what can you add to the current discussion?
Answer: Nothing really?

fanbloy blah,blah,blah...

You still haven't answered the question of another poster, WHY HAVENT YOU ORDERED FROM EITHER SERVICE?
When it comes to soundtracks I order from only one place and that is Screen Archives. Since I am happy with them I feel that I have no need for order from other places. When it comes to movies I either order from Ginza.se or take my car for a 5 minute drive to the nearest Hemmakvällbutik where I spend a lot of time.
Since you are a soundtrack producer and I am a soundtrack buyer. If it were not for us fanboys you would be out of work so I wonder why you always offend those who are (potential) buyers of your CD`s. Don`t bite the hand that feed you.

Regarding my story then check my first reply.
The Arrogance of Fanboys...
When called out on the BS, this is their last line of defense...
And this is why buying a CD with Ford Thaxton's credit on it feels like you're supporting the Taliban!
As for favorite amazon/ebay story... I met some people I bought from on ebay, became friends with and even ended up visiting abroad! I think at one time I received something twice which I didn't mind. The other way around, selling on ebay I had some good experiences overall. I have a 500+ feedback score and luckily very few mishaps. For me, if everything checks out ok I'm happy, anything else is a bonus.
