Our BIG MAC ATTACK continues with our next release...

HOME ALONE 25TH ANIVERSARY: LIMITED EDITION (2-CD SET) LLLCD 1374
Music by John Williams
Limited Edition of 5000 Units
RETAIL PRICE: $24.98

La-La Land Records, 20th Century Fox, Fox Music and Sony Music present HOME ALONE 25th ANNIVERSARY: LIMITED EDITION, a very special restored, remastered and expanded 2-CD re-issue of renowned composer John Williams (JAWS, STAR WARS, EMPIRE OF THE SUN, A.I. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE) original motion picture score to the timeless 1990 holiday classic feature film HOME ALONE, starring Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern, and directed by Chris Columbus. For this deluxe release, produced by Mike Matessino and Nick Redman, and executive produced for Sony Music by Jeff James and Didier C. Deutsch, producer Matessino worked with newly discovered elements (2 scoring masters containing 3-track mixes), which he transferred, mixed and mastered at high resolution (96k/24bit). The result is a strikingly sonically improved presentation of the score above and beyond any other HOME ALONE soundtrack release. Disc One contains the film score, with additional music, and Disc Two presents the re-mastered original 1990 album presentation with bonus tracks, including the addition of two tracks recorded for the film by Southside Johnny Lyon and the songs Run Rudolph Run and Rockin Around the Christmas Tree. With revised in-depth liner notes by Matessino and joyous all-new art direction by Jim Titus, this is the definitive release of a holiday classic from one of filmdoms greatest and most beloved composers.

Truly a really unnessesary release!

Not for those of us who didn't get it first time around.

All in all no big hit this time from LaLa on this Black Friday (in comparison to years before)

Just because you don't want them doesn't mean others don't. Personally, I could do with more Braveheart as well.

Is this missing the "Trapeze (Film Insert)" from the previous La La Land release? That was a great piece of music.

Is this missing the "Trapeze (Film Insert)" from the previous La La Land release? That was a great piece of music.

I don't understand either.
maybe it's IN the track in CD1 and the alternate version without it is in the ost?
I'm not sure if this insert substituted material or added.

If it added material and was IN the track, then that track should be 20 seconds longer.
So, I assume that it substitutes material, or that it isn't included in the track.

edit: Ok, I think I get it now that I heard the previous versions in the first expanded LLL and ost.
The insert substitutes material.

So, we have here the track in CD1 WITH the insert.
And the cue without the insert which has an alternate passage is in the OST track.

In the previous LLL version we had the cue as it was in the OST and the insert seperately.

Right? This seems to be the only piece missing from the original?

If what i guessed is right there isn't anything missing.
it's just that the insert isn't seperate as in the first LLL expansion but it is IN the track, where it belongs.

in the first LLL expansion the insert should be in 0.51-1.09 of track 26.
But it wasn't. We got the version of the OST and the insert was included in a seperate track.

So, now here, since we have the OST version, they put the insert back in the cue in CD1.
That is what I think.

Ah, so what you're saying is the first expanded LLL release had the Trapeze cue from the original soundtrack, plus the additional "Film Insert" as a short, separate track.

But you think this version edited that "Film Insert" into the piece directly and is using the "original soundtrack" as the original full cue?

That makes sense.

yes, exactly! wink
So, now, besides the added pop songs and source cues we have the complete film version of that cue.

The thing is I don't understand why cd1 track 18 is previously unreleased?
It has the same duration as before.
I don't remember any different film version. Maybe it fades out here?
edit: Wait a minute. It says "Chorus and orchestra". There isn't any orchestra in the film version. It's chorus and organ. Maybe that's what it means? But again the chorus and organ version is in the first LLL expansion and in the OST.

Also, what's the difference between 18 and 22 in CD2.
Maybe one of them is without the vocals?

Great for people who didn't get the previous release.

As for people complaining about the unnecessary release, think about how many times your favourite film has been issued on home video. Yeah, you don't have to buy it - but please don't begrudge LaLa for reissuing this title, as much as they are soundtrack aficionados, they are also businessmen.

So.....

For those of us who already own the original LLL release, is there any real reason to get this one?
It doesn't look like there is much (anything) which wasn't on the previous release.

Will definitely be picking up Dances, Pagemaster & Braveheart though. Undecided about Giant yet, will need to hear samples first.

" Matessino worked with newly discovered elements (2’’ scoring masters containing 3-track mixes), which he transferred, mixed and mastered at high resolution (96k/24bit). so this one should sound much better now than the previous LLL release??

How much better is the question.
My question is how much extra music is there really beyond the previous LLL release, and how many tracks repeat between disc 1 and 2. What's odd is that Disc 1 seems somewhat different, at least in track order, which one less track in the 'score' section but one more track over all.

It looks like much of the "original soundtrack album" are alternates or at least different configurations, so possibly not much sameness at all. Hmmm.....

I predict sales of Home Alone 2 will increase! I already have the first LLL Home Alone release which I adore.

I am tempted for the additional second disc with additional songs - this is a John Williams completionist's dream come true.

Great work LLL.

I'm completely satisfied with the previous Home Alone release so will pass on this new one. Glad it's available again for those who missed out. One of JW's best.

So would you recommend this release to someone who still hasn't bought the "Home Alone" score?
