Oh yeah!! I remember that. I remember replying to the wanted list ad (wrote a letter because I didn't want to cut up my precious magazine) and demanding that Space: 1999 Year 2 HAD to be at the top of their release list. I also bought Rocketship X-M. What memories!! It's a shame the record label never went anywhere. After all these years, Journey to the Far Side of the Sun and Damnation Alley finally made it. If they had gotten Man from Atlantis done in 1978, before the tapes disappeared, we would at least have a CD mastered from the LP today, and possibly from the 1/4 inch LP master.

I remember seeing this in Starlog at the time. Personally, I never saw it as a 'big announcement' though. They were doing a poll to gauge what the interest was, first and foremost. I know they concluded the piece by saying "look out for several soundtrack releases over the next few months", but I have a feeling that there hadn't been much work done in terms of researching how 'do-able' any of these releases were in reality. Even though I was only 15 or 16 at the time, I never myself thought we'd get to see most of these surface through STARLOG RECORDS. And indeed they didn't.

Make that two tears. The music to that series was so beautiful. I'm really amazed with how great the television music was back than. David McCallum's Invisible Man, Fantastic Journey, the Spider Man seventies live action series. All of them great themes and music. Plots might have been so so, but the music. Should have added Petrocelli and Ellery Queen to the list. --jthree Amen.
