Just got my copy yesterday....superb job all around and the sound quality/re-mastering on the previously issued tracks is a marked improvement. Nice liner notes in the book and those composer photos in the tray card are way cool....wish they were bigger though. Also the track listing is pretty small to read...but then there's a lot of tracks.
Now if only La La Land could do this to Frontiere's scores for THE INVADERS.....

Keep the last thought, bud, re: "The Invaders"- or anything Frontiere did in the 60's. I have to agree with your accessment, got mine last night and thoroughly enjoyed it- "My Friend, Mr. Nobody" is Just Great, and I really enjoyed the Leith Stevens score for "Blast Off into Space"- I'll bet I replayed that Gerald Fried Space biker (ack!)piece 4 times- Jeez, it's a hard thing to be fond of a show that could be so incredibly insipid sometimes.

We are, however, currently working with him on several other projects that will be coming out next year, to kick off his 75th birthday celebration. There will be some amazing music that has not seen the light of day since the films' (or television shows') first release. Expect the first announcement toward the end of the year and the first volume of the DOMINIC FRONTIERE COLLECTION to be released 1st quarter 2006.
YESSS! The New Year already bodes ill for my pocketbook....

An Invaders CD would be a dream come true but I think you know what Gerhard wrote:

So that means Frontiere's TV music from Studios as MGM, Fox, Warner Bros "may" be released--I used "may". So let's examin the situation.
"Stoney Burke" and "The Outer Limits" are MGM/UA
"Twelve O'Clock High" is Fox.
"The FBI" is Warner Bros.
"The Rat Patrol" is UA.
"Search" is Warner Bros.

Actually, Stefan, the 1964-66 TV series "12 O'clock High" was a Quinn-Martin production, like "The Invaders"; it was based on the Fox 1948 movie- it had a gorgeous title theme, would love to have it on disc, but given the moot possibility of "Invaders", dunno...

I'd also like to see more music from the Irwin Allen shows. Especially a nice CD set of the Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea scores. The GNP album was a mere half hour and really didn't do the music justice.

True! I'd just like to stake a bet that with the imminent issue of first season episodes on DVD that we may just see a similar compilation of material from this show sooner than we think.

Now, VOYAGE--which I own the short and very dry GNP CD--has quiet a array of composers.
I wish I had the season 4 psychedelic score by Harry Geller entitled The Death Clock--I love this weird episode too, starring Chris Robinson as Mallory, the time traveling medic.

Voyage has great music all over its 110 episode run. My favorite scores run all over the map but they go something like this:
The Mist of Silence

The Phantom Strikes
The X Factor
Monster from the Inferno
The Lost Bomb
The Deadly Dolls
Return of Blackbeard
Not to mention the GOBS of music they used from the Fox vaults. Thanksfully, much of this music from their respective movies has been released on CD.

I think there are a lot of unplumbed depths to Frontiere's Outer Limits work. In particular his score for The Forms Of Things Unknown is one of the most remarkable pieces ever written for a television show. The music matches the baroque imagery note for shot.
Everything he wrote for that great show was marvelous- and worth preserving. That music just riveted me when I was a youngster.

I would love to have that OUTER LIMITS cue on CD that played behind every scene of imminent danger...starts off quiet and builds to an intense climax(used,for example, when the Empyrian is discovered by the night watchman in "Second Chance"...and later re-used on THE INVADERS and even THE FUGITIVE when Kimble chases the one armed man up the tower in the final episode)

Oh that particular obsessive sound effects coming out of the "O.B.I.T." peeping Tom machine is due to music supervisor John Elizalde: fabulous sound design, isn't it? These electronic vibrations are so haunting.
Steven, "O.B.I.T." is just stock music from both "Stoney Burke" and "The Outer Limits".

There was also this cool low rising and falling generator type sound effect that they always used....it sounded like it was done on the low keys of some kind of organ. It even made an appearance years later in the DR.STRANGE tv movie as the background sound for the "other dimension".

Today, at last, I've got it. I take my hat off to La La Land. This double plays just fine all the way. The first disc is fabulous.
I hope they will release a VOYAGE double CD next.

I also wanted to add my belated rave about this CD, my favorite of the year--this had just about all the missing Johnny Williams stuff I wanted (ironically the music I was most searching for is contained within the track "Monkey Doo"), the Dr. Smith music from "Welcome, Stranger" and most of all Leith Stevens' incredible "Blast Off Into Outer Space." What a fantastic score that is! From the earthquake cue with its Poltergeist-like brass riffs and thrilling rhythmic play to the cool thematic writing, the almost medieval-sounding brass theme for the mummy, and the climactic space action material based on the family theme which is like something out of North's Cleopatra. Stevens is an incredibly underrated composer. It's almost jarring going from that incredibe modernism to the 40s throwbacks of some of the later-seasons "camp" material but I also love Gerald Fried's insane space hippy score--I'd actually forgotten his ingeniously bizarre, huffing and puffing "Sampson" theme for green-haired Dr. Smith, music that defines just how infinitely weird this show managed to get...and wrapping everything up with Robert Drasnin's wacky "Space Walk" cue, the end of countless laughing-it-up denouements of the show, is pure genious. Hats off to Ford, Michael, Mark and everyone else involved in this release!
