FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SOMETHING THE LORD MADE
FEATURING MUSIC COMPOSED BY CHRISTOPHER YOUNG - TO BE RELEASED ON SEPT 19TH,2008

http://buysoundtrax.stores.yahoo.net/solomaorsoby.html

(September 11th, 2008, Los Angeles, CA) BUYSOUNDTRAX Records will be releasing SOMETHING THE LORD MADE. The album features music composed for the 2004 HBO drama written by Peter Silverman and Robert Caswell, directed by television veteran Joseph Sargent and starring Alan Rickman, Mos Def, Kyra Sedgwick, Gabrielle Union, Clayton LeBouef, Charles S. Dutton and Mary Stuart Masterson.

SOMETHING THE LORD MADE tells the story of the extraordinary 34 year relationship between heart surgery pioneers Alfred Blalock and Vivien Thomas and their efforts to treat the devastating heart problem of Tetralogy Of Fallot, also known as Blue Baby Syndrome. Beginning in 1930, in Depression Era Nashville, the two men learn to work together against the backdrop of a country that is still racially segregated. Vivien Thomas is hired by Blalock as an assistant in his lab in Vanderbilt University. Expecting Thomas to merely perform the duties of a janitor, Blalock is impressed by his skills as a mechanic and tool-maker and begins to consult with him on his medical procedures. But when fame and fortune come knocking on the door, will Blalock acknowledge his contributions?

Golden Globe-nominated composer Christopher Young has scored nearly 100 films, including films such as HELLRAISER, JENNIFER 8, MURDER IN THE FIRST, COPYCAT, SPECIES, THE HURRICANE, SWORDFISH, THE SHIPPING NEWS, THE HURRICANE, THE CORE, THE GRUDGE, THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE, SPIDER-MAN 3 and, most recently, UNTRACEABLE and SLEEPWALKING. Born in Red Bank, New Jersey, Young graduated from Massachusetts Hampshire College with a BA in music and did post-graduate work at North Texas State University, studying big band writing and classical composition before moving to Los Angeles in 1980. While enrolled at UCLA, he studied with famed film composer David Raksin. In addition to his career as a film composer, he has also taught composition at UCLA.

BUYSOUNDTRAX Records is proud to present SOMETHING THE LORD MADE, featuring original score from the HBO motion picture composed by Christopher Young.

SOMETHING THE LORD MADE is a limited edition release of 1000 units.

The first 100 copies ordered through the website will include a booklet signed by composer Christopher Young.

SOMETHING THE LORD MADE is available for pre-orders at www.buysoundtrax.com and starts shipping on SEPT 19, 2008.

I saw the film by accident a few months ago and really enjoyed it. The track samples are lovely so I've ordered it (along with the new Morton Stevens release). From SAE.

Thanks a lot BYU!.

FYI, you mean BSX. BYU (like FSM) releases vintage scores via SAE.

IMHO, you should get this ASAP or you'll be SOL.

Which other Young score would you compare it to?

Probably The Hurricaine - including all those jazzy moments.

Very spot on Lokutus!

I would deifnitely say it sounds a lot like the Hurricane, mixed in with a very Newman sounding touch.

Really enjoyable music though, this is exactly the type of score that I love to see Chris Young do.

The score IMHO is in the vein of MURDER IN THE FIRST and the jazzy elements of NORMA JEAN AND MARYLIN.

I also must mention that for a variety of reasons we couldn't use graphics from the program and it fell to Mark Banning to come up with a original design that captured the spirt of the show without said graphics.

As far as I'm concerned, it's one of best designed CD packages he's done to date.

I agree with Ford, the artwork is GREAT and since I have not seen the HBO film I thought it was from it. Great score by CY and I'm glad I was able to get an autographed one!

Great job again fellows.

Really nice score! It begins with such a delicate, hymn-like melody and takes its time to build slowly to an emotional finale that feels completely earned by what's come before.

So glad you guys released this!
