Thor - "By the way, am I the only one who hears echoes of CLOSE ENCOUNTERS at about 6:00?" Tsk Tsk Thor. You should practice what you preach If you read through the other threads about this film/score, you will see me mention the CE3K similarity a few times. This clip is taken from my tape btw.

Indeed. I think we will have to wait a very long time -- like INFINITELY... I've done a lot of stuff to find this film -- the last and only remaining feature film of John Williams that I haven't seen -- but all efforts have been unsuccessful. If the film is that hard to find, I can only imagine how hard it would be to find the music tracks. In all likelihood, they have long since been lost and destroyed. well, sometimes it is easier to find the music. I mean we have Williams' Nightwatch, but I can't find this pilot anywhere..

Just love this music from the first time I heard various bits of it on youtube. And from a period many of us Williams fans absolutely cherish! If the presumed-lost materials never materialize, (and I never give up hope!) I'd like to think that someday, an enterprising musician could transcribe a little suite from this score, based on what survives in the great assembly Stephan put together. I mean, if I (who can't even read music) can pick out the main melodies on my yamaha keyboard, then hopefully someone who cares (and has the talent) might reconstruct some of it. This would certainly fill a mighty gap in the same way the short - but beautiful - re-recorded suite from "The Rare Breed" brings me joy in the absence of the original soundtrack. And of course whoever steps up to accept this challenge might as well throw in a little reconstructed suite from "The Secret Ways", then I can die happy, LOL. Since the Secret Ways was recently released in a new DVD, maybe it will be easier for that film to find the music .

This is UNBELIEVABLE!! One of the RAREST films in history I have ever encountered (was searching for years for this in various sources) now online!! The missing link in Williams' filmography! www.youtube.com/watch?v=CfYGELjTsHE
