Awesome! I was just considering buying the Chapter III release last week (and then saw it was too pricey). I've always enjoy the snippets I have from the old Rosenthal double promo. Looks like a great release. Thanks guys!

Wow @ what's on disc 2! THE COMEDIANS is an amazing score on its LP presentation-- is the complete score preserved in stereo or mono?

Nice update of these two excellent Rosenthal scores. Thanks, FSM!

Great scores. Looking forward to both. However, why the price increase? Older, 2-Disc sets, featuring two separate scores were once priced at $24.95. Is it simply the obvious--need more money to "keep the lights on?" if so, that's cool; I'm just curious of the price jump.

Damn,
With the Varese club on the immediate horizon, I have to wait briefly...
but this is a must buy for me...
I've got a promo to kill.

Disc 2 is an expanded presentation of the score to The Comedians in full stereo from the original 3-track recording.

Looking forward to getting this fine release.

Unfortunately, a 2CD FSM set nearly always means a purchase delay thanks to SAE's $5.30 local mailing cost (making this a $35+ purchase!). So FSM ends up waiting on Varese's releases so that a bulk order can make SAE's shipping costs palatable.

A must buy for me as well, but like most everyone I am waiting to see what VS is releasing this weekend. Love Rosenthal's scoring.

It's good to see an expanded "Comedians." All prior CDs were of the LP album only, but this expanded version is more than twice the length.

These were the final two of the seven films that Peter Glenville directed, after which he returned to theater directing and retired completely in 1973. After a long retirement, he died in 1996.

The score for The Comedians is one of my absolute all-time favorites.

Rosenthal's THE COMEDIANS samples sound very exciting...quite a fresh experience to my ears.
I vaguely remember the movie from way back (must have been mid-1980s) when it aired on TV as some sort of "viewers' choice" program. Doesn't this movie include children chants of "Bay - bee Doc – Duval-ayyyy..."?

Your memory is playing tricks on you. There is indeed a children's chorus that sings a chant in praise of Duvalier, but not "Baby Doc". His father, "Papa Doc" Duvalier was the dictator of Haiti during the timeframe of the movie and the lyrics say only "Duvalier" never "Papa Doc" or of course, "Baby Doc". As in.... "Duvalier. Creator of our glorious new history. President For Life. Duvalier"....etc.

Yes, exactly. I remembered some basic tune, but never really memorized the lyrics. So I certainly made up something that worked along the tune that I remembered.

THANKS!!! This is a great score, one for which I've been waiting a long time. COOL!!!

The cover art work and the artwork for the poster was done by Howard Terpning. He also did the art for CLEOPATRA, DOCTOR ZHIVAGO, THE SOUND OF MUSIC, GONE WITH THE WIND (last re-release), and countles others. He has been, and is, one of my favorite illustrators. So thank you for that GREAT cover as well!!!!!

smile
