Edelman has only done 2 movies since 2008. (Leap Year and The Greening of Whitney Brown.) According to imdb.com, he doesn't have anything upcoming. Anyone know what the story is? Is there a story to be known?

He's done three or four films from 2009 to current, according to IMDb and his site:

"The Greening of whitney Brown"
"Leap Year"
"Na Nai'a: Legend of the Dolphins"
"Paul Blart: Mall Cop" (he has a song in the film, but he lists this in his scoring credits on his website; maybe a rejected score? Waddy watchel did the score)

I'm listening to the second half of a new interview that was posted today. Actually, it was posted yesterday and dated tomorrow, but they forgot to hide the link! so, I'm cheating and listenig to it now. I wiull let you know if he announces any new projects.

EDIT:
Finished faster than I thought. No mentions of any new assignments. I can't find any hints online.

Well, the man is 65 years old and financially secured, so I guess he is enjoying his senior years.

Interesting chat. A pity about the bad telephone line though.

Replace '1997' with '1996' and 'kind of liked' with 'loved' and these are my thoughts exactly.

I was giving Gods and Generals a listen today and telling myself how much I adore the works of Randy Edelman (Leap Year, Gettysburg). I started thinking about a singer and a particular album I played endlessly during the late 70's and wondered...is this the same Randy Edelman? The album was entitled
"If Love Is Real" and of course, it IS the same Randy Edelman. I was surprised and thrilled. I had found this album way back when my tastes ran in the vein of Dan Fogelberg, Art Garfunkel, Jane Oliver. How could I not have known that this was the same Randy Edelman? Probably because back then I didn't care who the composer was - just cared about the songs. I have just purchased a copy of "If Love Is Real" and my family cannot believe it is NOT a movie score.

My daughter and I were talking about music last night and I brought up the fact that I actually became acquainted with a particular composer - Randy Edelman - in 1977 with his release of "If Love is Real." Little did I know that he would one day become the amazing composer and song writer he is. She actually wanted to hear some of his scores. I played the openings of "Gettysburg", "Gods and Generals" and a good bit of "Leap Year". She was duly impressed.

As I was listening to "Gettysburg" and "Gods and Generals", I was once again breathless at the beauty of this music. I will never tire of the richness of these scores and have been known to play them over and over. It is at this point though that my daughter is no longer impressed.

If Mr Edelman has retired I wish him all the best. If not, I would like to see (and hear) him working again. I am normally not a fan of synths, but Mr Edelman knows how to incorporate them and he just plain knows how to write a great melody.

Peter since I will not be there, can you please tell him that I have had a crush on him since 1977. It is not a creepy crush, just a love of his music that began with "If Love is Real" and continues now with..... too many to mention. smile
