As if September and October weren't already busy enough with awesome film music events, now THIS!:

http://life.royalalberthall.com/2013/02/danny-elfmans-music-from-the-films-of-tim-burton/

A concert of Elfman's music with the man himself present --- AND SINGING for the first time in 18 years!

God, how I want to go. I don't know how I'll be able to afford or make schedules meet with all the other stuff I've already booked, but I have to try.

Jealous of any of you that can go to this. In my opinion, the best of the best Elfman music being performed with vocal contribution by the man himself.

Only 1 week after the James Horner concert in Vienna? Why the hell everything just has to be scheduled for fall and only a few days apart and there is pretty much nothing going on these days?

Well, there is Marianelli's concert in Ireland in about a week, but that's about it.

I think I will be able to get to this. Burton scores/visuals..Mauceri...BBC Concert Orchestra...Elfman performance...sounds great!! Thanks for the heads up, Thor!

At least it's not on the same day!

The September/October schedule would look like this, if I had the time and money:

September 25-30: Krakow Film Music Festival

and then a flight from Krakow to Vienna...

October 4th: James Horner in Vienna

...and then a flight to London from Vienna:

October 7th: Danny Elfman at the RAH

...and then back to Oslo untill:

Late October (probably): World Soundtrack Awards in Ghent, Belgium

Phew!

The Boston/NY trip in June to see Williams live again would have to wait, I guess (need to sell my ticket).

The thought of seeing James Horner on the Friday in Vienna and then travelling back to the UK to see Danny Elfman at the RAH on the following Monday throws up new levels of AWESOME!!!
I bloody can't wait! smile

James Horner in Vienna I'm definitely attending, Elfman I like but I'm not the biggest fan of the Burton scores. It is easy to get there via train etc. I will keep this as an option. That will be a frickin' busy month with WSA as well.

Imagine if John Williams were to come to WSA big grin

Ahh, for those of us trapped in America, where we can only hope for about one or two concerts a year on the level of Silvestri or Newman, where we don't get the usual picnic and wine basket suspects, over and over and over again. Europe remains the continent where true film music gets it play, as opposed to the place where it happens. I'm envious.

Ahh can you imagine "Breakfast Machine" being played at RAH. Like Placido Domingo singing "I'm Too Sexy"
It's a beautiful thing.

It goes both ways - you live in the place where the stuff actually COMES FROM, and you don't think some of us over here would love to go for some of those Hollywood Bowl things if we had money enough and time? (And Silvestri and Newman [David, as opposed to Randy] have yet to do any London concerts, so it all works out. Unfortunately. frown )

Not to mention John Williams, who hasn't been in Europe since 1998 and probably never will again.

I think the US is the place for individual film music concerts, while Europe seems to have the most FESTIVALS.

For once, it's not in the US. For once, it's not too far away from home.

I got my tickets, I wouldn't miss this for anything...

Bought my ticket! I'll be sitting alone, apparently, as I couldn't wait for others to make up their mind. My seat is A 10 (Arena).

Anyone know how quickly tickets sell for events like this?
