For those who may not follow the La-La Land Records threads, the distinguished label will be releasing a new 2CD version of John Williams' score to Rosewood on Tuesday, May 21st, at their new release time of 12PM PST, as part of Warner Brother's year-long 90th Anniversary Celebration.

The complete original OST presentation is retained on Disc 2, while Disc 1 of the new set features the Complete Instrumental Score produced, edited, and mastered by Mike Matessino. The set contains liner notes by Jeff Bond and art direction by Dan Goldwasser.

The John Williams Fan Network has exclusively premiered the cover art and track listing here:

I hope everyone interested picks up this new set in 2 weeks time!

Looking forward to this one, thanks LLL!

It seems our next new JW score will be SS's American Sniper, probably 4th qtr 2014.

Count me in. Love the score

I visit this board every day and spend a fair bit of time here, reading if not always posting. I haven't seen this score mentioned here positively in years, though it's made several "Williams scores I like least" lists. I don't see a mammoth seller here.

One of my favorite Williams scores. In my opinion, those who like it least are missing out on a true gem.

It's a great score, so well recorded. If people could listen past the Jesus stuff, they'd find some tremendously interesting writing that Williams just never gets a chance to do with Spielberg films.

I agree with the previous two posters: This is an excellent score, and totally deserving of an expansion. The album is a very different animal than the score as heard in the picture, and I think it's some of the most interesting work Williams did in the late 90s... I place it well above SLEEPERS or SABRINA or STEPMOM or any of those others. I even prefer it to NIXON and ANGELA'S ASHES, which are both stellar works in their own right.

That theme from Angela's Ashes is something else, though. Powerful stuff.

I'm afraid to say I don't know the score. I'll have to check out some samples.

I tend to forget about this score myself even though I like it a lot. It will be nice to be able to hear all the unreleased music. The love theme he used is very different for Williams and barely represented on the original album. I love the idea that an African American-led production turned to John Williams to write negro spirituals. Another little notch on is belt when it comes to showing off his chameleon-like abilities.

I have no interest in an expansion, as I think the existing soundtrack is perfect the way it is, but I can use the opportunity to say what an underrated album this is. I particularly love "Look Down Lord", which is yet another example of Williams' religious sound that I love so much. I remember being very surprised when I first learned it was an original JW composition, not a traditional hymn. The same reaction I had when I discovered the same with "Exultate Justi" back in the day. The man can write perfect pastiche that also has a unique identity of its own!

The film is OK, but by no means a masterpiece. As I've said elsewhere, I think it's fun to ponder that Williams has scored TWO movies starring Jon Voight as a single white man being caught up in the troubles of a black community, the other being CONRACK.

I have never thought of this, cool bit of trivia. I've seen (and liked) both films.
So, we're getting the complete Rosewood and of course it's very very welcome, an instant purchase. The question is: will we EVER get the remaining 10 minutes or so from Conrack?
