It's gone from a must-hear to a might-check-out. Though if it's anything like Jablonsky's Your Highness I'll definitely look into it. Most likely Varese will release the score. I'm about halfway through the book and it's definitely interesting. I might see the film and be able to judge the score that way. If we're lucky he'll have the chance to spread his wings and give us something great. If we're less lucky he'll at least give us a Transformers-level guilty pleasure. If we're unlucky he'll give us some Battleship-style garbage. Well, the title is hard to come by with the search engine and the title doesn't reflect who the composer is. It was hard to find for me at least, so I started this one. If people like it better or if they think the other thread is better and let this one die, so be it. I'm also worried about how much of Card's own worldviews appear in the story. I'll still want to see it because of Ford and because I did find the idea of child soldiers intriguing. I actually quite enjoy the themes in Transformers (the first one). I just got the Island, but haven't listened to it yet. How does Pain & Gain compare with those? In all fairness, that thread became mainly a vent for frustration over Horner's exit. PAIN & GAIN is a lot of fun -- at times very melodic a la the first TRANSFORMERS; with some awesome grooves and textures to boot.    Posted:   May 14, 2013 - 11:47 AM     By:   Michael24   (Member) I'm actually not that familiar with Jablonsky's work (I remember liking some of what I heard in Battleship), so I guess I'll be able to go into the score objectively. As for the film, I think it looks pretty promising just based on the teaser. I haven't read the book since I was in high school, so I don't remember much of the story, but I plan to re-read it over the summer. (I still can't believe the movie is actually coming out. Jablonsky has really been impressing me lately with Gangster Squad and Pain and Gain, not that he didn't already impress me before. Ender's Game isn't quite that old.
