Honestly, I'm not as excited about this, since Horner was replaced. It's gone from a must-hear to a might-check-out. Though if it's anything like Jablonsky's Your Highness I'll definitely look into it. Most likely Varese will release the score.
I'm about halfway through the book and it's definitely interesting. I might see the film and be able to judge the score that way.

Is anyone looking forward to the score or movie?

I'm looking forward to the score. If we're lucky he'll have the chance to spread his wings and give us something great. If we're less lucky he'll at least give us a Transformers-level guilty pleasure. If we're unlucky he'll give us some Battleship-style garbage. But ever the optimist, I am.

Was there something wrong with the existing thread?

Well, the title is hard to come by with the search engine and the title doesn't reflect who the composer is. It was hard to find for me at least, so I started this one. If people like it better or if they think the other thread is better and let this one die, so be it. I just thought it was easier to find and more clearly labeled.

Yes, I'm excited about it -- especially if it's in the mode of TRANSFORMERS, THE ISLAND or PAIN & GAIN.

Of course, I had been even MORE excited if it had been a Horner assignment, but that's the way the wind blows.

As for the film, I'm a bit concerned after having seen the trailer and don't have particularly high expectations for it. I'm also worried about how much of Card's own worldviews appear in the story.

I'll still want to see it because of Ford and because I did find the idea of child soldiers intriguing. As for the author's views (in as far as they matter as I'm not sure of his involvement with the movie, Michael Jackson's songs are still played on the radio), I read the interview in the other thread, and I think once the gay community gets wind of his anti-gay statements, this movie will get cockblocked faster than a... well you catch my drift wink

All signs are pointing to disaster for this movie; mabey it'll still surprise us.

I actually quite enjoy the themes in Transformers (the first one). I just got the Island, but haven't listened to it yet. How does Pain & Gain compare with those?
As for the book, I find vague references, passing comments, about conservative religions, but they're just little details - in no way can I find any sort of religious message throughout the story.

I entered:

Ender's Game

into the search field, and under it chose "2013 posts", and the previous thread came right up. Plus, it's been on the main page for a few days now, except today. Not sure why it was so hard to find. It should be on page two or three right now.

In all fairness, that thread became mainly a vent for frustration over Horner's exit. Perhaps a clean slate was in order wink

PAIN & GAIN is a lot of fun -- at times very melodic a la the first TRANSFORMERS; with some awesome grooves and textures to boot.

I'm actually not that familiar with Jablonsky's work (I remember liking some of what I heard in Battleship), so I guess I'll be able to go into the score objectively.

As for the film, I think it looks pretty promising just based on the teaser. I haven't read the book since I was in high school, so I don't remember much of the story, but I plan to re-read it over the summer. (I still can't believe the movie is actually coming out. It had been in development hell for so long, I thought it would never actually get made.)

Hopefully it won't have the same fate of being a box office failure like John Carter because it's a story written 60 years ago, and with lots of movies taking inspiration of this one.

Now that we all know where the other thread is, do we really need to continue here?

I'm very excited about this score. Jablonsky has really been impressing me lately with Gangster Squad and Pain and Gain, not that he didn't already impress me before. Very interested to see what he turns out with this one, hoping the director/studio gives him enough creative freedom to let his true talent shine through, but who knows...

After hearing Pain & Gain, I'm looking forward to anything Jablonsky delivers.

Ender's Game isn't quite that old. The original short story was published in 1977, then the novel came out in 1985.

Am I the only one who believes the trailer for Ender`s Game is WAYYYY too long?

And do they show you the ending at the end?!?

Gravity has a proper trailer (thumbs way up)

After seeing the ENDER'S GAME trailer, I'm kind of glad Horner isn't on the film now.
Didn't like the look of it and now I can ignore it, safe in the knowledge the score won't be anything I'm interested in.
