The BLADE RUNNER soundtrack was composed by Vangelis for Ridley Scott's 1982 film considered one of the finest sci-fi movies ever made. It is mostly a dark, melodic combination of classical compositions and synthesizers which mirrors the futuristic film noir envisioned by Scott. The soundtrack holds legendary status and at the time was well-received by fans and critics including Best Original Score nominations for a BAFTA and Golden Globe yet, except for a few cuts, it was not released until 1994.
The movie remains a classic film with a long list of popular movie stars including Harrison Ford, Daryl Hannah, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young, and Edward James Olmos most of whom appear on this hybrid SACD in movie dialog samples mixed into the 12 tracks of nearly one hour of music. Vangelis makes each track flow into one another. The soundtrack features vocal contributions from Demis Roussos and the sax solo by Dick Morrissey on "Love Theme." The colorful 12-page booklet includes many stills from the film. BLADE RUNNER is a timeless classic on film and now on hybrid SACD.

I just put my order into Amazon for the Blade Runner 180g vinyl so I think I will pass on this. Who ever even bought an SACD player?
I own one. I am told there are 3-4 specialty labels that still make SACD releases in limited runs. Seems to me if you make 5000-10000 available of an SACD remaster you are doing okay.

What really matters, and that no label has done so far, is releasing the soundtrack to Blade Runner complete and without dialogue.
Why is it so difficult? Copyright?
Because I don't believe it exists.
No longer exists? Did somebody retire it?
But seriously, what's the deal with Blade Runner? Anybody know? I've been under the impression from what I've read in the past that the major holdup is Vangelis himself, who presumably desires for his BR music to be heard only in the context of concept albums with dialogue, sound effects, etc.
Now don't get me wrong, the 1994 album is a seriously cool work in and of itself with Ford's droll opening dialogue, Hauer's immortal speech, and the gorgeous additions of Blush Response, Wait For Me and Rachel's Song. I've enjoyed it immensely over the years. But what would be even more seriously cool would be for the 1994 album and the complete score to coexist in the world.
So anybody know what the holdup really is? I'm sure there's been a thread on this, but with 50+ Blade Runner threads and counting, I'm not about to go hunting for it.

YOR suspects that mr. Vangelis himself does not want to release the complete score for "Blade Runner" since he always liked these "concept" albums for his soundtracks...
