According to Film Music Reporter Sony Classical will be releasing a soundtrack with Lockington's score. No word yet on a release date, but presumably it's in August sometime. I love Mr Lockington's work and am pleased to see a CD being released.

Andrew Lockington is one of the saving graces of today composers. Can not wait to hear this score!

According to Thor Freudenthal's tweets, IAMEVE performs the theme of Thalia, in the score. Looks like there's not going to be any of Beck's themes (the film practically ignores the first one).

I liked Beck's score quite a bit, but I'm not sorry the themes won't be reprised. The original movie was so atrociously awful that I think they're smart to steer clear of associations to it, and frankly as much as I'd have liked to hear Beck do a sequel score, given that it's Lockington I'm just as happy that he's free to do his own thing.

Thanks!

Also good: a roughly 66-minute runtime and multiple cues over 5 minutes.

Although Desplat is a much more sophisticated composer, the Lockington samples don't sound bad at all; similar to what he did for the two "Journey" movies. Colorful and varied, if unsubtle.

Apparently the US release gets more boring cover art.

Extended sample here:

Well, i somehow feel disappointed judging by that sample (only by the smaple). I mean, yes there are themes in that, but one theme is very similar to the first 4 notes of Beck's "Opening" in the first movie, one other theme is somehow generic, and one theme sounds kinda incomplete, and one action theme (danger motif) really remind me of Journey's (that Bull track). But other than that, it's just okay. Dont get me wrong, i really love Lockington's previous efforts, from Ember to Mysterious Island, but this, is kinda a let down ( i dont know, perhaps some creative restriction?), Cant wait for full hear btw.....

I've been listening to this since yesterday and it's really starting to grow on me. While it's not as enjoyable as the Journey scores, I like Lockington's work and this score has some great moments. It reminds me a lot of his City of Ember score. Definitely check it out.

I'm impressed by the themes Lockington uses in this one. The score could be a bit more purely orchestral but it is largely enjoyable.

Do both the import and domestic releases contain the same cues?

Checked up on it; they do.

Another Nichalos Dodd orchestral firework without David Arnold's multiple highly-memorable themes to properly back it up.

Just what this generic Harry Potter knockoff movie needs...
