"The Wizard of Oz" IMAX 3D opens in theaters in the US today for one week.

Not sure how an MGM confection will play that way.

But looking forward to hearing the awesome MGM orchestra circa 1939 in an IMAX theater with Herbert Stothart leading the way and the Harold Arlen/Yip Harburg tunes spinning the magic!

I'm going Tuesday, and looking forward to seeing OZ again in the theater. Very curious about the 3D conversion.

Just came back from a screening of this and was delighted. It reminded me of a recent experience with "Jurassic Park" in IMAX 3D, in that the enhancements were interesting and fortunately did not seem to distract and I did not see any fiddling "fix", of some sort, on the original film.

The sound was certainly terrific. Herbert Stothart and associates worked such wonders with those orchestrations and the IMAX theater I attended was a great place to enjoy them.

The Technicolor looked so gorgeous. The pan of the poppy field on the huge screen was really magical.

Thanks for the early review. Other reviews I've read are also indicating that it's an excellent conversion, and not in-your-face. I also agree that the Jurassic Park 3D was very well done.
