This year Christmas comes one month early as one of my most wanted unreleased scores, Jay Chattaway's MANIAC COP 2 is finally seeing the light of day.

On November 19 Blue Underground is releasing the film on BluRay with an Isolated Music track.

Jay Chattaway composed a wonderful suspence score to the original MANIAC COP,
but in this entry he upped the action.

I just had to share this wonderful news as a few years ago I emailed Intrada about this title,
but got information that the owner of Maniac Cop 2 wasn't interested in licensing the music.
This was a title I never thought would see the light of day.

Can anybody who purchase this give any feedback? Like is this legit and pressed? I've never heard of the company who released this score before, but am interested in owning the score.

Blue Underground is definitely a legit company. They specialize in, well "underground" films. To my knowledge this is their first soundtrack release and is limited to 1000.
I'm so glad I saw this thread. I had no idea this was coming out.

Thanks for responding and I'm glad this "Blue Underground" decided to release the "haunting" and "eerie" score to Maniac Cop 2 b/c I would love to own that. The movie was pretty good too. I saw that one before the original back in the day.

The scores from all three MANIAC COP films are just awesome!

The scores of noted B-picture composers of the past like Nathan van Cleave, Paul Sawtell, Hans Salter, Ronald Stein, Robert O. Ragland - hell, even Albert Glasser - either WEEP or BLUSH WITH SHAME in the face of the primitive drivel served by Jay Chattaway here (or in Red Scorpion, or Silver Bullet, or ANY of his scores where one would respect more than B-standard TV music).

LOL!

Yeah, I'm sure Silver Bullet would benefit greatly from a score by Hans Salter.

Oh yes it would have. Even at 90 Salter would have delivered a classier score.

Yes, he would be perfect in getting the mood of the 1980s just right.

Indeed. Maybe not the flavor for the purveyors of bad taste such as yourself, but the flavor for more discerning minds. wink

So says the guy who lists two scores from rip-off master James Horner among his favorites ...
Better to ignore him.
