The Wrong Box (John Barry)
http://store.intrada.com/s.nl/it.A/id.7409/.f

I was about to buy John Barry's "The Wrong Box," until I read this:

"At time of release, Mainstream label issues 29-minute soundtrack album. In later years, stereo LP becomes arguably Barry's rarest, most-sought collector's item. Actual LP masters have long since vanished so this portion of Intrada CD is mastered from mint condition stereo copy of album." So they used an LP as the source. I happen to have "The Wrong Box" on a pretty well preserved LP, and if I want a CD from an LP, I'll make my own. But I was very tempted to buy it anyway.

I have a lot of early John Barry soundtracks on the Mainstream record label, including "King Rat," my favorite Barry from the 1960s, and was thrilled several years ago when they released it on a pretty terrific CD.

If you have the LP and excellent tools for noise reduction, then yeah. But for a lot of Barry fans, it sounds like Intrada rescued an LP program that was heading for virtual extinction and got it onto a stable format for the digital era.

Gotta be honest. I've never understood the argument that goes: I love this music, but I'm not buying it because it's mastered from an LP.

Yeah, that portion is mastered from LP, but it sounds fine — it's a job done well. And all that extra music too.

I am very happy with The Wrong Box CD--whatever it might be mastered from.

Even if I had an LP and even if it was in mint condition and even if I knew how to get the music out of it to a CDR, I still guess the result would not sound as good as the professional mastering done by Intrada.

I'm rather surprised it's gone out of print.

Still at SAE, though.

Well put.

And now the warning for The Wrong Box is gone, but it's still on the main page of the site. Weird.

Interesting how this is still available at Intrada when Senn555 says it is not.

They must have uncovered another box or some retailer canceled their order that they made when the title was announced as going out of print.

Interesting how he never said any such thing.

Interesting how you keep following me around, Erik Donovan. I respect gays just as much as anyone, but unfortunately I'm straight, so you'll have to find someone else.

(Might want to pick up some reading glasses also, because I never said Wrong Box was sold out.)

My mistake on THE WRONG BOX being sold out, I misread your post, sorry.

Wow, you really need to get over thinking I am Mr. Donovan, because you have it very wrong and there is no connection other that our strong feeling that MLP is for young girls and not adult male viewers. My father would be very upset if I was a male as I just got engaged to be married 2 weeks ago to a man and I am his fiancee, not his partner. You better watch yourself accusing people of being people who they are not.

You must also be lying when you said that you have me blocked. How did you read my response?

Anyway, I have placed my order for THE WRONG BOX. I was waiting until I got paid today to place the order. Should have picked this up when it was released.

Congrats on your engagement, Kim! Hope your fiancée doesn't mind your film music obsession (or better yet shares it).

I'm happily married (over five years) with no children and both my wife (25) and I (28) are (thanks in part to Basil/Senn555's persistence here) MLP:FiM fans...I admit If you'd told me that a couple years ago I wouldn't have believed you, but it really is a quality show. Other active shows we watch include New Girl, Modern Family, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Downton Abbey, American Horror Story, The Newsroom, Whose Line Is It Anyway?...so we're eclectic. Most of those are pretty adult shows and MLP is a nice palate-cleanser. smile Recently stopped watching Walking Dead because it's been so bad for so long...under Frank Darabont it was great.

You forgot to mention your aggressiveness toward Ford Thaxton and your fixation on Robert Folk. Erik Donovan was banned December 11th 2012; you registered two days later. But that's just a coincidence, isn't it?

Funny how the creator of the show sees different...

I wasn't banned, I requested my account be deleted so I could start over on a fresh identity.

Of course, the irony about your post is that you're more than likely someone's dupe account, given you have next to no prior posting history, and most of it was your throwing a fit because Black Cauldron was missing ten minutes of music.

"Very well, then be nice and reserve you fucking "diagnosis" for your parents."
