So is anyone here following the winter games?

Norway on top of the medal count so far...

Of course. Mostly the ski events, though. I have close to zero interest in the sports that interest most of the people on this board, like hockey and figure skating.

Disappointing day today, however, which means that other nations have passed us on the medal list. Let's hope we'll get back on top soon.

I'm only interested in the Hockey. Can't wait until the men's teams play. Though I will say the Finn's have some cute girls on their hockey team. wink

Never really been an Olympics viewer, but I do prefer the winter games over the summer ones.

With Lindsey Vonn, sadly, out of the competition, I'm not as much interested in the skiing this time around. I may still catch some of it, and snowboarding, here and there, but probably not very much.

Only other thing I'm really interested in is hockey, but I don't know how many of the games I'll be able to watch. Would love to see Team USA get the gold this year, since they so deserved it four years ago.

You have some good cross-country skiers too. For example, Kikkan Randall is one of the favourites in the women's sprint!

Following/watching very closely, as always... from the spectacular opening ceremonies... through the ultra cool slope-style snow boarding... incredible cross country skiing... and much more!

The only event I have any interest in is the Curling. I enjoy it, and even watch the European and World Championships during the year. It's helped by having this little lass feature of course...(Eve Muirhead, GB and SCO Skip).

Norway on top again now, 4 gold, 3 silver, 4 bronze.

For me, any sport where Norway have chance of a medal, is interesting. But I guess hockey and figure skating are not among those... :-D

True. I've always found both of those rather boring, and not only because Norway sucks a them.

We're back on top for now, but I'm dreading Canada. They're always very strong, and have medal candidates in far more events than Norway. Of course, the Netherlands is also a contender since they basically take every single medal in all the skating events!

Well Japan's women's hockey team got ripped off with a non call on a goal playing the Russians. Hmmmm...

Impressive win for Eve Muirhead's Team GB rink against the US yesterday, incredibly scoring seven in one end. Hopefully she will beat Canada today as well...

Germany in the lead with 7 gold now, with Switzerland (!) as number two with 6 gold. Norway still having their 4 gold...

Norway has had a couple of DISASTROUS days now, and the chance of becoming the best nation is now practically nill. Something has gone wrong for our favourites in the preparations for the Olympics. Extremely disappointing.

We Americans have had our problems too, especially in speed skating and figure skating. My other complaint is that NBC shows more commercials and human interest stories about the athletes than the sporting events themselves. Very frustrating.

Anyone else think the Olympic flame looks particularly phallic? eek

You may be right about the preparations thing, but on the other hand I think it's good that this is not a Norwegian national championship. The really disastrous thing for the games had been if Norway (or another country) was taking too many medals home.

Yeah, like you see the skating event now, which is basically just a Dutch championship.

On the other hand, my sense of national feeling is still so strong that I want us to win as much as possible.
