Mark Kermode has reviewed the flimsy and basically sums it up as a piece of "bonkers" sci-fi.
It might as well be a FedEx/UPS advertisement about a large package going from somewhere to somewhere else and ending up slightly soaked, but, otherwise intact with no significant valuable content damage and maybe one item a bit cracked. The biblical origin story for anything signed, sealed and delivered.
This "apostasy" went from 44 million first weekend to 17 million last weekend - quite a signicant drop .
Maybe word of mouth has been a factor.
I'm amazed that some ancient guy and his boat brought in $61M in 2 weeks, though $130M was spent making it. This would certainly not have the international draw that the super hero flicks have (a big reason they make so many of them).
With the overseas gross of 106 Million it has about $180 million banked, not bad really. Still well short of a profit with distribution and marketing, but it could well make it over the line before the run is over.
Anyone going to see it expecting a biblical epic must not have seen or heard Aronofski’s comments on it being unbiblical. Haven’t seen it, don’t plan to do so, but from several reviews I’ve read doesn’t “The Creator” vent his wrath at man’s destruction of Earth by...destroying Earth?
