FRIDAY, JULY 18 COLUMBO---Mark Ruffalo confirmed he is in talks to star in a movie remake of the classic detective series that starred Peter Falk. Ruffalo tweeted that he talked to writer Ed Solomon (MEN IN BLACK), " Ed Soloman (sic) approached me on this about a month ago. We are thinking a movie." The original series/tv movies of 69 episodes ran on NBC and ABC. GAME OF THRONES---spoiler alert (see below). PIXELS---photo released from the sci fi comedy movie starring Adam Sandler, Michelle Monaghan, Peter Dinklage and Kevin James. Aliens misinterpret signals of old 1980s video games from Earth as an invasion of their planet and retaliate by invading Earth. The President of the United States has his old friend, the video game champ and his team, attempt to defeat the alien invasion. LINDBERGH---Paramount Television miniseries underway based on the aviation pioneer Charles Lindbergh biography LINDBERGH. Dustin Lance Black is the writer, and Leonardo DiCaprio is the co-producer. SONS OF ANARCHY---the final season premiers on September 9 with a 105-minute episode. AMERICAN HORROR STORY: FREAK SHOW---photo released of Sarah Paulson's character, Dot and Bette. TNT---the network renewed THE LAST SHIP, FALLING SKIES and MAJOR CRIMES. STAR WARS: EPISODE VII---Christina Chong (24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY, DOCTOR WHO) has joined the cast in an undisclosed minor role. THE DEVIL IN THE KITCHEN---movie underway based on the memoir of celebrity chef Marco Pierre White. Ridley Scott is the co-producer. * * * * * * * * GAME OF THRONES---Sean Bean commented on the hopeful possibility he may return to the series in flashback scenes for Season 5 via Bran's heart tree connection, "Oh, yeah, yeah! And I'm his father, so that would be great fun! Just to go back to that for a while, it would be such fun to do. It would be great! It would be bizarre, but it would be great! So I guess if they're going to do flashbacks, then yeah!" He commented that the flashbacks were just a theory, "But it's a good theory! And that should happen, shouldn't it? I've definitely got some unfinished business that needs to be resolved there. (Spoiler alert) I'm obviously not Jon Snow's dad. And you need that to be revealed at some point, don't you? So Bran would kind of be the one having the flashback, and he would see Ned praying, right? And revealing those things? You never know what those guys are going to do with that. It's got to be something special. But I'm into that. I certainly would be into that. Print that! Give them a nudge. Hopefully I'll get a call soon."

I look forward to the recreation of his American First speech in Des Moines You know, the one where he blamed the JEWS FOR TRYING TO GET THE USA INTO WWII and singlehandedly destroyed the isolationist movement and his own reputation (FDR called him a "copperhead") brm You have to take the rough with smooth. After his political self-immolation you could have him getting back to his roots in WWII by helping to extend the range of the P-38 Lightning using fuel/air mixtures and 'P' factor that only Lucky Lindy would know about. http://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/239470-Charles-Lindberg-the-P38-Lighting-Forums Oh yeah! He also shot down several Japanese zeros even though he was decommissioned. Fascinating life! brm

two actors who would make a good Columbo: Paul Giammatti PS Hoffman RIP Ruffalo? hell no! brm I have to strongly disagree, he's a fine actor and I'm sure that he'll do a very good job. BUT you seem to forgot that COLUMBO has pretty much already been remade for the 21st Century.. It starred Vincent D'Onofrio and was called Law & Order: Criminal Intent... He was doing COLUMBO and doing that rather well IMHO. Ford A. Thaxton

Any resemblance between Columbo and Criminal Intent is totally nonexistent. (IMHO) Only if you are blind Eric.. As someone who WATCH IT, that he was doing a 21st Century version of COLUMBO and a rather good one at that. Leave in the past all you wish, I'm just saying that I'm not against someone taking another crack at the character. Peter Falk is no longer with us and it's been 11 years since the part last. So all I ask is that someone do a good job. Ford A. Thaxton

Do you think that, despite Lindbergh's pro-Nazi stance up to and before U.S. involvement in WWII, they'll include the fact that he later had children by 2 different German women, in what amounted to additional marriages, beyond his association with the redoubtable Anne Morrow? (She eventually got fed up with him, and is not buried next to him on the grounds of the home they shared on Maui, as I recall.) The subject of Lindbergh, if looked at historically, can be most prickly...
