GREATEST TELEVISION NEWS OF 2012!!!

Supernatural or not, 8 seasons really is a milestone. Especially for a relatively "cult-favorite" such as this. Most of my favorite shows (Buffy, Lost, Angel, Alias, Party of Five, Felicity, Dollhouse) never even made it 8 seasons (although admittedly sometimes by design)! The only show I've ever truly loved that made it that far (and beyond) was ER. So this is truly a day of celebration and triumph -- Sam and Dean, who knew you'd survive this long?!?! big grin

Oh, and for Gabriel's sake, please bring back Jeffrey Dean Morgan!!!

Great news! There is still much more to be done with Bobby and Castiel. The regular and recurring cast is so perfect that good or bad story arcs matter less than the sheer pleasure of all the interactions among the characters.

Agreed. Bobby in particular is tremendous, and the chemistry between characters and the consistent humor have kept me going through way more angst and unshapely story-arcs than I'd usually be down for. This is one of two shows that I watch regularly instead of waiting for video.

I find it strange looking at captures from early seasons: Dean looks very much the same, but Sam has pretty much doubled in size. It's incredible.

smile All smiles here...

Great news indeed... one of my favorite shows hits season 8... I wonder what will be up their sleeve this coming season???

Perhaps we can now have a second soundtrack release for the series?

An early announcement made this year regarding the fate of one of my all-time favorite shows...

SUPERNATURAL renewed this morning for SEASON 9!!!

Tremendous, exciting, awesome news. I can never have too much Supernatural.

For those interested, Arrow and Vampire Diaries (also on the CW) were renewed for next season.

Please watch spoilers, if anyone replies to this thread. Have been Tivo'ing Season 8 but not watched it yet, and last season had a few doozies of twists that some might not have caught up on yet. As Supernatural revels in leading you in the direction of one thing and then doing another, careful not to spoil anything, politely requested! smile

Long live Sam and Dean and the Impala!

The show that refuses to die!

I love it myself, and am happy it continues. Although, to be fair, I DO wish they reach a conclusion at some point too.

I don't believe I've seen an episode, since it stopped being paired with SMALLVILLE. I need to go back to it. Hopefully, it's on Netflix streaming.

NO TV series should run for nine seasons. As much as I'll miss it, I'm glad Fringe only ran for five seasons, so it couldn't devolve into a sad parody of it's golden years like The X-Files and so many other genre shows have. I have never watched Supernatural, but for every season past the fifth one it goes, it's less and less likely I'll ever start watching it.

You should see it before commenting, Mr. Jack. I don't think it's possible to draw generalizations like that.

While I would agree that the best seasons of SUPERNATURAL were a couple of seasons ago (right up to the leviathans), it's still a good show with an interesting mythological story arc. And they don't write themselves into a corner, like LOST. Maybe they can wind it down in a 10th season?

What does this even mean? My favorite seasons of my favorite show, were Seasons 9 through 14.

All shows start going south after the fifth season. It's inevitable.

Well, I certainly don't agree, as I stated in my previous post!

SUPERNATURAL renewed for SEASON 10!!!

Fantastic news. The tenth season (if renewed) has long been rumored to be the final season of the series...but who knows? Supernatural (paired with The Originals) is drawing some of its best numbers in 3 years and the CW is doing dynamite success with shows such as those and Arrow, Reign, and The Vampire Diaries. All five of the shows mentioned here have been renewed.

Honestly, I've found Supernatural Season 9 to be the weakest of the series, with the show's all-time worst episode, "Sharp Teeth", airing in late January. However, a show that lasts 10 (+?) seasons can't be expected to knock it out of the park every single year. I have utter faith that Supernatural will draw out ahead very soon and end on a glorious note, whenever that might be.

It's a strange thing, but I've seen just about every episode from all 9 seasons several times and it never gets old. There's something addictive about it of course, but something so watchable about it that I never tire of seeing the same episodes again and again. Ever since Sera Gamble's departure as showrunner at the end of season 7 (and to a greater extent Kripke's departure at the end of season 5), the show has not been as genius as it was, but it's still addictive and terrific entertainment with wildly creative and often hilarious ideas.

At any rate, long live Supernatural and the boys!

Hey, Dep, what do you think of Supernatural: Tribes?

Very curious about it. Keeping an open mind. Hoping it won't be a poorly rendered cynical cash-in, riding coattails. I do think there are myriad avenues of interesting exploration that Supernatural or one of its spinoffs could investigate, and that includes a single setting (in this case Chicago?) with co-existing groups of humans and monsters. Has much more been made known about it than that? Very curious about more info if you have any. What do you think?

As we all know, for every Frasier there is a Joey, and for every NCIS Los Angeles there is a That 80's Show... wink

It's just your opinion, NOT FACT. In the case of "Supernatural", the show is solid, solid, solid!

"Friends" ran 11 seasons and the final season was as funny as the first.
