So the inevitable question comes; when do we get an expanded Into Darkness?

Who knows? Since Into Darkness has been out a year on May 16th, maybe an expanded score announcement will come soon. I know that Giacchino's first Trek score was expanded a year after the film, so here's hoping!

That would be wonderful!

Is there a different email address to contact Varese as I tried tonight using info@varesesarabande.com and it failed each time? I was trying to take out disc 2 tonight and the flipper snapped out of the case.

You expect Varese to replace a broken jewel case?

Go to OfficeMax, get an empty jewel case, and transfer the inserts. Sorted.

Yeesh, if I demanded every disc I've bought new that had a broken jewel case replaced by the label they would all hate me.

I am sure Bob Townson himself will replace your broken case.

Fortunately l keep a stockpile of about 75 or so unassembled high quality (single-disc) jewel cases, but I have to admit that when I receive a damaged double, quad, or larger jewel case I sometimes find it challenging to find a replacement of equivalent or superior quality to the original. The jewel cases sold by the aforementioned Office Max (as well as other stores like Walmart, Target, Staples, etc.) are of the most abysmal quality I've ever seen, and most reek from the low (lowest of the low) quality recycled plastic used in their manufacture.

But even so, unless you're willing to at least pay for shipping I don't think it's reasonable to ask Varese to replace a case that broke. The 2 times I've received a damaged jewel case from LLL that I can't easily replace, I included a note in my next order (so no extra shipping costs were incurred for anyone) explaining it arrived broken and asking if they could please include a spare replacement. Both times, LLL has been excellent enough to do just that, but I certainly wouldn't have had any hard feelings if they'd decided it wasn't worth it.

The only recourse for getting high-quality 2-4+ disc cases these days are a handful of online retailers, such as Casetopia, etc. There's a huge degree of varying quality, though... the grade of plastic used, whether it's CDDA branded or not, etc. Replacing a jewel case and bringing the CD set back up to factory spec isn't always the simplest task.
