Iron Man 3 - Tony Stark walks in front of the TV playing and says "Downton Abbey, Sunday nights, PBS."

THE MATRIX - Man holds up a "generic" battery that is colored to look EXACTLY like a Duracell.

Both movie series that have earned 9 gazillion dollars for their makers, and they still do placements. This is just greed.

Avengers 2- Thirty minutes of it's two hour and a half hour run time will contain product placement for Apple products. No I haven't seen the film yet, I'm just calling it now!

The irony; superheros fighting for liberty pimping junk made by forced labour under a dictatorial regime.

Plus, Keanu Reeves is referred to as "Coppertop" at one point.

Even more ironic when a portion of the film was shot in South Korea for the cheapest labor possible!

The Goonies (1985)

First half hour in...

Characters holding Pepsi cans, Chunk opens an old Pepsi cooler in search for the stuff, Godfather's Pizza mentioned by name--and overdubbed in yet!, Baby Ruth candy bars mentioned, Ford Mustang car, Members Only windbreaker, Nike shoes, Cyndi Lauper music video...more to come, I'm sure. wink

TERRORVISION - Everyone is drinking Heineken. Often holding the can out awkwardly so you can see the full label.

PERRY MASON - not so egregious as modern day tv

everyone drives a Ford.
(at least in those days the credits say "cars provided by Ford motor company"
AND
NO ONE EVER SAYS THE WORD "FORD". if a witness to a crime says he saw someone drive away from the scene of a crime h/she will just describe it a "convertible"]

And Tron, and The Black Hole, and Lost In Space (of all things!) Actually I didn't mind this kind of product placement. It was in a comic book store (where it belongs) and really was a nerds paradise.

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert- Colbert seemed to go on and on for 10 minutes selling a sponsors product. All disguised as a comedy sketch. Unfunny, insulting and a waste of my time.

Will STAR WARS: THE FRANCHISE AWAKENS have product placement?

Since the 1977 actors are past a certain age, will we see:

Chewbacca "combing out the grey" with Grecian Formula?

You would think any movie by highly regarded director Edward Dmytryk would be good. But "The Human Factor"(1975) looked like alot of budget foreign films done with over-the-hill actors that you'd later see on $1 dvds.
Brands for breakfast, bullets, booze and many more items on display. The supermarket shootout finale was a stroke of marketing genius. The villain falling on the Heinz cans stacked up in the middle of nowhere looks like a scene from Police Squad.
