I guess I can email it. Or if there is a way I can upload it somewhere and then provide a link on here. I don't think that breaks any forum rules from what I have read since it is just a homemade text file for cue breakdowns.

If you're using the DVDs as a reference, keep in mind that there are a few episodes where the music has been changed for whatever reason. The Menagerie Part 2 has cues from The Doomsday Machine and the Varese Sarabande rerecordg of Charlie X. Some other episodes have music stings added as well, such as The Deadly Years, where the dramatic teaser fade out music for The Doomsday Machine was slapped on to puncutate Spock and Commodore Stocker's decision to hold a hearing for Kirk. It was for reasons like this they used the Laserdiscs for reference when working on the set. Too many changes were made to the sound on the DVDs and Blu-Rays.

But you'll probably have 90% of it accurate to the original broadcast going by the DVDs.

Ah! I remember hearing they did that from all the interviews they gave last year. So is it possible that the cue Brett is looking for is from the Label X re-recording of Conscience of the King? That's crazy, man!

Brett, I might suggest either Dropbox of Google Docs as a place to make your file public. This is a terrific project. I never had the time or apparently the talent (the ear) to make my own. I am greatly looking forward to yours.

I actually have the Label X albums and just checked and it is definitely not from that suite. This cue's instrumentation and orchestration sound like it was recorded with Mullendore conducting and from that same day the other library cues were done.

The cue in question is around 14:30 in during the episode if anybody wants to take a listen. I used to have the old DVDs which apparently were still correct. Maybe if somebody has the original DVDs or the laserdiscs they can check it out.

I was always under the impression one set of the DVDs is actually correct.

**UPDATE**
Supposedly the blu-ray mono tracks are all correct from what I have gathered. Unfortunately, my blu-rays are in storage and I don't have access to them immediately. Can somebody verify if this cue is the same on the BR mono track?

I might put the brakes on this project until I can use the blu-rays as reference.

**SECOND UPDATE**
Looking through this thread (http://www.trekbbs.com/showthread.php?p=8948509#post8948509) , according to somebody it appears Miri had a new, remastered cue added for the DVDs?? And the mono Blu-Ray track is the same. Soooo, I assume only the VHS and Laser-Discs would have the original cue. That just throws a wrench into everything.

Alright, here is an updated file. I decided to use Excel and upload them to Google docs.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bx9WhqPEmeTYdTU5RUNueEF4T3c/edit?usp=sharing

I am hoping somebody has a copy of the old VHS or Laser-Discs so I can figure out what the cue that Miri originally used was.

I am not sure how to move forward. I guess I should not use the DVDs any longer. I am wondering if there are any differences with what I have put together so far and with what is on the Blu-Ray mono tracks as well as the VHS/LD tracks.

I want to do this correctly and as accurately as possible.

Hard to believe it's been a year now since this was released. Probably the most expensive soundtrack purchase I've ever made and worth every penny.

Same here & I agree completely - it is a wonderful release.

I like the spreadsheet format, Brett. It makes for an easier read and a quicker way of taking in the score as a whole. It will certainly be possible to use the cue sheet as a guide for recreating the score as it was constituted.

I think that your safest bet is the laser discs, followed by VHS and the blu-ray mono tracks. They both have one or two controversial moments, but are pretty much intact. The DVDs and especially the blu-ray stereo tracks are riskier for a project like this one.

Hmmm, I guess until I have access to the laser-discs or get my Blu-Rays I might put a hold on this. I want to do this project as accurately as possible.

You could continue with what you have. If you run up against a total brick wall (like Miri) then make a note and move on. When you get the better sources then it’s just a matter of checking your work, right?

Or you can wait, I suppose. wink

I’m still shaking my head: They recorded a NEW cue for the DVD of Miri? Is that really what happened? Of all the episode, of all the cues, Miri?

I've also listened to that cue in Miri now.
Is it another library cue by Mullendore? Or was it clever edited with music from the "Conscience of the King" score and Mullendore's library cues?

Nope. I have listened to the library cues and the CotK cues over and over, side by side. And it is not any of those cues. So either it was a new cue used from another source when they were redone. Or it is actually missing from the set and was possibly left off inadvertently.

I mentioned this before, but the cue missing is the Trek theme and with mostly flutes. The CotK cue 'Kirk and Lenore' is very, very similar but alas is not the same. And the Library cues all sound similar as well.

Fifteen months later and I’m still listening to this set. I haven’t grown tired of it and always find some time to pop in a favorite score, or revisit some I don’t frequent as much. It’s also amazing how much having the complete presentations made the previously released scores more enjoyable. Where No Man Has Gone Before (in sound and content) is much fuller and one of my top picks. The Doomsday Machine also gets play quite often, which like it’s forefather The Enemy Within, doesn't have a single false note. Sol Kaplan was underused.

Of the newly released, I gravitate to The Man Trap a lot more often than I thought I would. It’s not droning electronic crap that Roddenberry hated at the time; it’s just very depressing and stark, but still brilliant. It does a wonderful job in filling in the character blanks of the creature. Also Friday’s Child and Spock’s Brain keep drawing me in.

There are a few episode scores I’m not as enamored with, but overall, this is still my go-to for mood music and easily some of the best television scoring of the era. It certainly is my own personal favorite. I’ll always be grateful for everyone’s herculean efforts to get this together and out. Such great quality and a real labor of love. If I have any complaint at all it is the decision to cross fade some cues to recreate an original edit (which happens in the two pilot scores). I would have preferred to hear the cues end rather than get stepped on by the next cue, but that’s a very minor point. My love for this set is unparalleled in my library. It is easily the jewel in the collection and my actual Holy Grail.

It's still a keeper. I went through Trek overload earlier this year, so I haven't been listening as much. I was mowing through all six TOS films and this set on a daily basis for over a month. A teeny bit of burnout.

Oddly I've been listening to TAS quite a bit.

Since then it's funny what I come back to. I've been playing What Are Little Girls Made Of and The Enemy Within more than I used to.

To Whom It May Concern:

Does anyone know how I might be able to send Jeff Bond a private email. I have located a piece of unreleased, possibly lost, Star Trek (original series) music, and would like to discuss with him how it could be preserved and made available to fans of the show.

Thank you.

Tom
