I have to say, this is something I go to on occasion for commute music.

An embarrassment of riches if ever there was one. Thanks again all. smile

I still listen to tracks from this title nearly every week. Great purchase and fun. Thanks again to everyone that put it out.

Has anybody got any high-res original (i.e. the covers LLL used for each seasons booklet) covers for this set? I had a look on their site and there aren't any. Emailed them and no response.

Did find some on the net, but there's blocking in the starfield on one of the covers - yes I'm a picky bugger wink

I must agree with the other recent comments here, I'm still listening to this collection regularly, and play at least one of the discs per week. Other than my Star Wars Anthology set, this is my other Holy Grail. It's already gifted me with untold hours worth of musical enjoyment - thanks again to everyone involved in making this happen, not forgetting the remarkable work & talents of the composers themselves of course!

Two years on and I still play them regularly. Damn. Best. Release. Ever.

For me personally, this was/is the most important and anticipated release for me ever. Hands. Down. No other TV show had music that I wanted and loved as much as this one has. This set truly was a dream come true for me and for countless others I'm sure.

With you on that DarthBrett.

This release is the most expensive soundtrack purchase I have made, and was for me an easy buy.

Not so much for anticipation, but for the quality of the release, the presentation of all of the music for TOS, a definitive single collection of everything, great research and liner notes, great sound quality, and beautifully packaged.

I'd also rank the FSM Superman box and Ben-Hur releases up there, but it sure makes one wish the folks at Lucasfilm were FSM fans too . . .

Absolutely the pinnacle of soundtrack releases (at least for me). I would echo what everyone else here has so enthusiastically said - an historic release, beautifully presented, listened to by myself on a constant basis for the past two years. Soundtrack bliss. big grin

This was a package that I never would have expected.

Now it's a major cornerstone of my collection.

It's amazing that it's so comprehensive, and that it sounds as good as it does.

I remember where I was when I saw the news that this box would be coming out; I couldn't wait to get home and watch the video. From the care taken in assembling the set, to the audio restoration, to the visual design, it's an amazing product, at the head of all the excellent Trek restorations & expansions from the last five years.

Since it arrived, I've never been more than a few days from listening to one of the discs, and the stingers have been a constant presence since I used them for my phone notifications. Khan grabs the scalpel every time I get a text message, and Charlie does something horrible to someone every time there's a calendar reminder.

I get these disks out about every five or six weeks and each time it's as if I'm hearing the music for the first time.

It is an absolute travesty that "Star Trek" never received even a single Emmy nomination for music (or that Matt Jefferies never received the Emmy for his brilliant production design), Desilu head Herb Solow recalled in the book "Inside Star Trek: The Real Story" (co-written with "Trek" line producer, Bob Justman) that for the 1966-67 Emmys no award was given in the Music category as the Academy music committee felt that none of the submissions 'were up to the standards of television.' Just unbelievable when you think about some of the great TV music produced that season (aside from Star Trek): Bonanza (too many episodes to name, every episode scored by David Rose), I Spy (Earle Hagen and Hugo Friedhoffer, again, too many scores to name), Mission Impossible (especially Schifrin's score for "Operation Rogosh"), Batman (Nelson Riddle), The Road West (Leonard Rosenman), Gilligan's Island (Gerald Fried and Don Ray), Run For Your Life (Pete Rugolo), Gunsmoke (excellent scores by Leon Klatzkin, Fred Steiner, Mort Stevens, Richard Shores), The Wild Wild West (Richard Markowitz and Harry Geller), The Time Tunnel (Paul Sawtell and Lyn Murray), T.H.E. Cat (Schifrin and Fried), Bewitched (Warren Barker and Van Alexander)…none of these achievements, in the ATAS Music Branch words, 'up to the standards of television.' Back to "Trek," I recall Courage saying in some interview that he never submitted episodes (at least then) and perhaps this was the case with episodes scored that first season by Steiner, Mullendore, Kaplan and Fried (one would be hard pressed to find a more effectively scored single episode that season than either "The Naked Time" or "The Enemy Within.")

Two years ago today it was delivered to me (12-12-12 is an easy date to remember). It's hard to imagine this set being topped. The best two Ben Franklins I ever spent!

That's terrific. I may have to follow suit. (I currently have the Trek boatswain's whistle for texts and Vejur's blaster beam for notifications.)

Was wondering if any behind the scenes pictures were taken of this project? I know on the promo video there's a few great shots of a mastertape being threaded and played, would love to see more pictures of the gear used, the tapes, boxes etc. Love the behind the scenes technical side of projects like this. Would be great to have a complete set of photos of the mastertape boxes, and tapes. Would make for some great iTunes album covers smile

I isolated a couple blaster beam soundbites for the logon/logoff sounds on my laptop. The ram's horn effect from TFF has made some appearances too. Those synth/effects-only tracks from the LLL releases are very useful. (Come to think of it, I haven't used any of the sound effects from the Generations releases or GNP's old TOS sound effects CD.)

I saw "The Menagerie" on MeTV a week or so ago, and a cue from "The Doomsday Machine" jumped out and bit me. Has anyone taken the trouble to list out the major music transplants in the latest remastered edition of the episodes, the one with CGI fx? Or just some examples you've noticed?

Also, I recall it being said that they used some Royal Philharmonic music. I find that fascinating and I'd like to put the details in my notes, if anyone can help.

This is my personal stash.
