London 87 today, a little breeze 6-7 mph. its only hot, when there's no wind, next 3-4 days its a lot warmer with no wind, good luck, drink water.

Forecasters in UK all way's get it wrong, no winds they say.. 8mph a nice breeze today, its 88 doesn't feel like it though.

As of 08:30 EST here in South Florida, the temperature is 86F/28C. Humidity is 79% and winds are at 9mph. It's actually quite nice out. June is the only month of our insanely hot and humid summers that I enjoy. By next month, my disposition ober the weather won't be so sweet.

Rough translation: Germany's "soccer" "kids" team--meaning the under 21 years of age squad--defeated the Czech Republic team by a 3-0 score.

"Hammers" are the English football team West .....

Sorry you asked? big grin

My eyes glazed over right there where the ellipsis starts above. smile

Confirmed, last weekend's highest official shade temperature ever registered in the Spanish peninsula since records began - 47.3ºC. What the bloody harile phuck is that in old money? Luckily I don't live in Córdoba.

So it's not MY weather, and it's not RIGHT NOW. Off-topic rant.

On-topic, let me look out of the window... 11:25pm, dark (it's night), cloudless skies with stars, 18ºC. That suits me just swell.

Read 'em and weep fellas: It's 106F/41C in Berkeley right now.

And me, I've gotta leave the air conditioned library to go home and eat lunch.... frown

It got up to 109, but now it's heading back to normal, but more humid than usual.

The past few days have been weird. While it's been pretty much "business as usual" weather-wise, it's been weird outdoors.

There are wildfires, burning continuously north of here since Sunday night. So Monday morning, I walk into the interior hallway of my building, and I smell smoke. The smell is there all the way to work, but it goes away later when the wind picks up.

Tuesday, it's mostly the same, except that during the middle of the day, I could not see the hills that are big, not more than 2 miles away.

But Wednesday was the oddest. The sun came up and was out, but it was a little cloudy. And there was still smoke hanging in the air, not being blown away. So the sun hung there in the sky, casting milky ORANGE light on the ground. It was like being in a science fiction movie.

Not sure if Hurricane Ophelia is going to get this far east, but the light outside (around midday) has a peculiar yellow tinge to it.

Yes, in London (or just outside of it) it's cloudy with a funny golden sort of light, it's a tiny bit windy & I think that's the worse we're going to get, we mostly miss out on the bad stuff in the south east (just as well, as we're a bunch of softies).

Hope all my OAP friends in Craiglang will be alright.

At least over there you won't have to sit without power with 112F heat index temperatures like we do here in Florida.

92MPH wind gust--that's a near CAT 2 hurricane when those winds are sustained--reported in south coast of Ireland. Two dead.
