I'm working my way through this set and hoping to produce a condensed playlist of maybe about 4 or 5 hours' worth of music. Has anyone here already done this? Care to share? Chris. Maybe you should take the time to do it yourself as opposed to asking others to do it for you. That's a novel idea. Ford A. Thaxton Was this comment really necessary? YES! Going through the set myself would take a huge amount of time and I was very grateful to receive the suggestion of a kind board member who was willing to share his work It's called BEING LAZY.... If you took the time to buy it, thrown and and listen to it and pick out the tracks you like yourself. Ford A. Thaxton

0 Ford, not everyone has the time to carefully listen to a fifteen-track box set, perhaps many times, or know the series it came from well enough, in order to be able to sort the wheat from the chaff. While I'm thrilled to have every note written for the series, I'm also very happy to have an abbreviated play-list featuring the set's highlights. It's also called just BEING LAZY. Ford A. Thaxton

It's also called just BEING LAZY. Ford A. Thaxton Are the purchasers of compilation albums being lazy because they can't be bothered to listen to every score on the disc, and select their own cues? Should I not buy - for example - FSM's "Man From UNCLE" discs, because someone else has chosen the cues for me? Should I contact the composer every time they release an album that they've edited and sequenced, demanding that they send me the rest of the cues, and let me decide which tracks I should listen to? No! No! No! In each case we rely on others, with more expertise than we have ourselves, to make these decisions for us. I've bought the Trek box, and I've listened to every disc. Relax. I don't want to spend umpteen hours listening to every disc again, simply to select cues for the *next* time I want to listen to some Trek music. If I want my broken TV repaired, I don't spend months teaching myself all about electronics, I contact someone who already has that knowledge, and ask them to do it.

Ford A. Thaxton consistently reminds me of Stephen King's notes about his short story, "Dedication", which appears in his collection NIGHTMARES & DREAMSCAPES. King states he wrote the story because he once met a very famous author (who he discreetly refuses to name) who had built a career of writing powerful, insightful works rich with human truth and beauty, and discovered to his shock that the author was actually a foul, odious person without a single social grace or note of civility. King wrote "Dedication" to work out for himself the profound disconnection between the horror of who the man really was and his inexplicable ability to create art which had a laudable and profound impact in other peoples' lives. Ford's contributions to the art of soundtrack restoration and releases is paralleled by few, and should always earn their due accolades, but his contributions to basic human-to-human discourse is the communicative equivalent to dumping toxic waste in unsullied waters. Years ago, this angered me about him. Now, I simply pity him. To give so much to the world, yet be unable to connect with that world on even the most basic human terms, must be such a tragic, hollow and wasteful way to live one's life.

If you don't understand that these are different animals. It still doesn't change the fact you are just being very lazy on this issue. IMHO of course. Ford

Ford, knock it off! There's nothing even remotely wrong about asking people to share their playlists! Give me a break! I'd be interested in people's choices myself--for fun! Sigh... Lukas

Happy 3rd anniversary of the release of this fantastic set! I don't think one day has gone by since then that I haven't listened to at least one or more cues from the set! And since then, Lost in Space and Mission Impossible, well it's truly great times to be a TV soundtrack fan! Thanks! Mike
