I was going to begin watching Julianna Margulies' legal drama The Good Wife and saw the pilot episode -- liked it very much and was all set to go. But then... I was like, eh...I think I'll squeeze in Jeffrey Dean Morgan's 1950's Miami Beach drama Magic City, which is only 16 eps anyway. After all, there's always time to squeeze in some JDM and as he was the star of his own show and he's one of my favorite actors, it's a show I definitely needed to cross off my list. So far two eps in and I'm loving it -- what phenomenal production design -- costumes, sets, music, props, locations...so authentic and certainly nothing like it among the shows I normally watch. JDM is brilliant and magnetic as always, the characters are compelling, but I have to say the one weak link? Danny Huston as Ben "The Butcher" Diamond, gangster. Way OTT. Someone somewhere at some point with some brains should have told him to reel it in a bit, he stands out as a cartoon way too often and he just irritates the f*** out of me -- not as a character who's supposed to, but as an actor who unfortunately takes me out of the narrative with his mannered acting and poorly written alpha-male scenes. Back to The Good Wife soon.

Taboo - 2 episodes in. Decent stuff, well acted. Creepy and grim looking. Jeeves and Wooster - Hugh Laurie at his best and Stephen Fry is also perfect. Wonderful PG Wodehouse adaption with outstanding Anne Dudley music that works wonderfully in every scene. Better Call Saul season 2 - Really good start picking up from the first series which ended strongly. Excellent performances and nicely written.

Is Hatfields & McCoys good? I love westerns and Bill Paxton and Kevin Costner when he's in a western. I thought it was very good. Based on how good it was, I watched Texas Rising, which was very disappointing. Greg Espinoza Ah, no. I have both in my list to watch. Hopefully I like Texas Rising a little more.

Who else is watching the new Netflix show Santa Clarita Diet with Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant? This shit is really funny. Watched the first episode and liked it. Haven't gotten back to episode #2 yet. Greg Espinoza It's definitely dark, and wacky, and strange, and not for everybody, but I think it's very funny. Timothy Olyphant's comedic timing is brilliant on this show. He's very energetic and his facial expressions are priceless. Hope you continue to enjoy it!

Oblic stick with Taboo. hardy is so bristling. Difficult to follow tho you have to listen to every word. Little throwaways are key to the plot and the complex politics and machinations. I watched it with english subtitles activated just in case anything vital was mumbled. It is confusing and a little baffling but go with it. Fab music too. Billions s2 has started as strong as ever. Walking dead improving but still has annoying side alleyways that delay the real story. Its a but like listenung to a mad relative rant about some meaningless nonsense about how the garden flowers are doing when your waiting on key news if you still have a job or something - know what i mean??!

Was watching Stan Lee's Lucky Man with James Nesbitt. S2. Nesbitt on tube platform, who is standing next to him? Stan Lee, in a sort of Hitchcock cameo.

Just finished the latest season (#12) of my old pal Supernatural. At first I was worried it was getting long in its (vampire) tooth and indeed, briefly it lost its mojo. After a phenomenal Season 11, this most recent outing started off decently but quickly devolved into a sad echo of its former self. I was worried, I was dismayed, but I did hang in there because the worst day of fishing beats the best day of work. The middle of the season showed flashes of intermittent promise, and by the end of the season it had ramped up its trademark addictive thrills and recaptured the pure essence of the show that it had lost for awhile this year. I am not sure what the problem was then -- writers having difficulty figuring out how to break a story, or get a story going, or which story to concentrate on, or they actually thought that they had an interesting buildup to an exciting season finale (I'd disagree with that structural opinion) -- but once the setups and fumbling of the first 2/3 of the season were in the rearview mirror, the final round of episodes featuring the fate of the BMoL and the nephilim were very intriguing Supernatural concepts. They were plot developments that once again -- again -- proved that the show has a hell of a difficult time running out of ideas and interesting places to take the story. The Supernatural well runs deep, who knew in 2005? The Bobby reveal in the Season 12 finale was epic! Showrunners narrowly avoided letting the show sadly slip away in its twilight years while still on the air this year, though. It was close. That would be a real shame. As much as I would hate to see the show leave, as I've been loving it for 12 years, I hope it goes out on a high note. Looking forward to Season 13; in the grand tradition of classic absurdist wtf SPN episodes, next year will feature a Supernatural/Scooby-Doo crossover episode, fully-animated. How f***ing awesome is that?!?!

Billions s2 was superb. Penultimate episode was just wonderful. Person of interest got sillier and more contrived. Shades of blue still magnificent but getting a bit like The Shield. Vikings still ok. Blacklist is back but again thats one that is kinda disappearing up its own arse with repetition.

Tried to start up Black Mirror but found the first episode appalling and completely unappealing. That doesn't inspire confidence...even if its aim was to appall. Maybe it gets better, but life's to short and there are other shows I want to watch. Finally got around to starting Freaks and Geeks. It's a short run and won't take very long to go through. Up next is either another quickie, 13 Reasons Why, or AMC's Halt and Catch Fire.

Ray Donovan is back. Top cast but jon voight continues to give an acting masterclass as creepy Micky. Fargo took its time. Had good moments, screen stolen by David Thewliss. The mcGregor thing didnt quite work. The moustaches and the accents all seemed a bit forced. Probably the worst of the 3 series.
