Yes, as it happened, I had indeed seen DEAD SET before, but it was a nice revisit. It's a great show -- very intense -- and I wish it would have continued. But I see how it's a one-off thing to get the satirical point across.

In lack of recommendations, I've also done some more research and added a couple of more candidates to the list - HYPERDRIVE (yes, it's a sit com, so maybe not what I'm looking for, but I'm willing to give it a chance), AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D and a German-English show called SPACE ISLAND ONE (only managed to find the first of two seasons).

I'm surprised nobody mentioned HELIX in this thread, the recent SyFy show, but it's been added to the list now. I'm also excited that Amazon has picked up Chris Carter's THE AFTER for a full run. Should be good.

I removed both HYPERDRIVE and SPACE ISLAND ONE from my to-see list (although I kept them on the overview list). I checked them out, and they were not what I'm looking for -- too silly and/or cheap in execution.

REAL HUMANS is fantastic, and I hope a third season is forthcoming.

Putting DARK ANGEL on hold for now, as I've decided to check out DA VINCI'S DEMONS and LAST RESORT first (don't know if they have any paranormal elements, but they look intriguing).

Finally, I'm continuing to follow CONTINUUM, COSMOS, GRIMM (getting more and more boring, btw), HANNIBAL (getting tired of the flashy style), JUSTIFIED, ONCE UPON A TIME, REVOLUTION, SUPERNATURAL, THE WALKING DEAD and VIKINGS. Many of these are nearing their season endings.

You must have a lot of spare time Thor.
When do you have time to go to work, or sleep?

I am doing well to follow one show.

Yeah, as I'm working freelance, I do have a lot of sparetime. Besides, my current freelance job consists of watching films and tv shows and then writing about it, so there's that. smile

Finished the first season of HELIX. Pretty good (and I LOVE dramas in isolated places like this), although some minor annoyances -- like the reckless stupidity of the scientists when they first arrive, and Hatake's constant secrecy. I'm also confused as to the 'immortal's age. If Hatake is 500 years old, did they develop the virus back then? I thought it was a relatively new phenomenon. Where does the thing come from in the first place? Hopefully, that will be answered in the second season.

Also finished the first and only season of LAST RESORT. Not paranormal, but with some pretty exciting action episodes. Too bad it was cancelled.

Sorry to hear that you didn't like it, Bruce, but our taste in things do differ more often than it overlaps, so it isn't that surprising, I guess.

Agree with you on Helix. It started out as a very Michael Crichton styled tale, and ( for me) stayed interesting even though it did "screw the pooch" a few times. Hatake & the immortals - sounds like a 70's prog rock band - and the 500 year old thing also made no sense to me.
Also, the sudden miracle cure that turned Peter ( wasn't that his name?) from the leader of the Vectors, a rabid leader of killing machines, back to 100% normal. And what is the deal with the ultimate assassin guy, who is supposed to be death incarnate, but they go the baby faced lisping 17 year old route... Jesus that was annoying. Plus for an unstoppable killing machine Alan knocked him out with a flimsy chair pretty easily big grin

I'm still going to follow the series for now, it stays interesting as it flirts with disaster. And hell, I still watch The Following, which is without a doubt the most ridiculously stupid series I've ever seen razz

Two episodes into HAVEN now, and I can see why I was thrown off the first time. Yet another investigation show, and the paranormal elements aren't particularly scary or exciting. I'll take UNDER THE DOME any day over this in terms of Stephen King shows. But I'll stick with it for a bit longer.

Over on the other side, someone talked about a new horror show called PENNY DREADFUL. That sounded intriguing and has been added to the list.

Some updates (primarily for myself, I guess):

* Just finished the last-ever episode of WAREHOUSE 13. It was a little all over the place, but that's part of the tone of the show. Rather moving, actually, after 5 seasons. At the very least I'm glad to see it reach a conclusion.

* Also finished the season finales of AGENTS OF SHIELD, ONCE UPON A TIME and SUPERNATURAL.

* Still following CONTINUUM, COSMOS, GAME OF THRONES, PENNY DREADFUL and REVOLUTION, as well as non-paranormal shows 24, DA VINCI'S DEMONS, DEREK and HANNIBAL who are all more or less nearing season finales.

* I've added the show ONCE UPON A TIME: WONDERLAND to the list, and will be watching that shortly.

* I've started on HAVEN, and hope there will be more of an overarching storyline at some point, lest it falls into the DEAD ZONE trap of just 'mysteries of the weeks' for seasons on end.

* I'm still looking for more shows to check out, so recommendations are appreciated -- both for good paranormal and non-paranormal shows in the period.

Yup, I've seen it and it's on my list on the first page.

I don't have a lot of memories of it now, but judging by my reply on the last page, I did seem to like it.

I have seen the whole series, which I enjoyed. If you like Sherlock and Moffat's work on Doctor Who, you should enjoy this show. James Nesbitt does a great job as the lead. The show has some great dialogue and great character moments, but some of the stories start to fall apart the more you think about them. As I recall, there are less than 10 episodes total, so you could watch the whole thing in half a day. The last I checked it was streaming on Netflix. I am not sure if it is still there, as it has been a couple of years since I watched it. But if you have access to the whole series, I say keep watching.

the first 3 eps were just ok but the last 3 I liked very much.

ONE BiG PROBLEM:
DESPITE witnessing Hyde do stuff like killing a lion they keep thinking he can be captured by conventional means!
I mean , how many times does a mercenary haft be eaten before you change tactics????
