Could one of you great guys who already have the SONY release tell me how many pages are in the booklet including the front and back of it? I'm curious how many pages is in it.

Thanks smile

DMD

Pre-Order the Jupiter Ascending 2 CD set from Varèse Sarabande Records for $16.98! Out on 4/7.

So frustrating, DMD! I follow Varese on Twitter, but I am stupified at how little or how poorly Varese uses social media. Would it have killed your SM (no jokes, please) person to let us know via Twitter about the autographed version of this. I am a very big Giacchino fan and would have loved an autograph. In any case, kudos on getting this stateside.

This was all finalized at the last second and we hurried to get the news out so if folks wanted to cancel their SONY order and buy the autograph/non autograph version by us with more photos and an essay written by Michael Giacchino, they could.

Looking at our Facebook and Twitter page, we did alert folks we'd have this available a few days before the 10th which was the release date of the SONY version.

As soon as I heard from Robert Townson on his personal Facebook page that autographs were happening plus a longer CD booklet, we all hurried to the social media platforms to inform all of you great folks. I added the words AUTOGRAPHED booklet to my post on Facebook and I also posted on this thread that we would have autographs available to the first 100. Our Twitter page was also updated to reflect the autographs on Feb. 10th

Also, I've been running our Facebook page since October and have been actively posting almost everyday several times a day. As well, our Twitter page is actively updated daily now. We are more active on social media then we ever have been before. We also started an Instagram page that is growing steadily plus we have a Spotify account and keep updating it with playlists. I'm proud of all the outreach we are doing and the amount of activity we have on our social platforms!

This was a very last minute release and autographs etc. Apologies if you missed this or are just now finding out that we had a VERY limited run of autographed copies. With this great feedback we can improve upon all of this for future releases that may or may not have autographs!

Thanks

Social Media is where I found out about the autographed copies. Just because you missed the posting doesn't mean that they are not doing a good job...it just means you missed it.

Twitter and Facebook are not great places to advertise, at least not on the "timeline" (paying to promote those posts is more effective, since that's a more likely way to be seen by many eyes).

The issue is that if you only post once, the post gets buried in your feed (especially if you follow over 100 people on Twitter, or have a bunch of Facebook friends who are regular users). Facebook even prioritizes posts on your page, so it's possible the a Varese post about Jupiter Ascending won't show up on your wall at all.

The opposite issue, and a surefire way to get seen, is to post multiple times, many times about the same thing, every hour or two. You then run the danger of flooding people's wall/feed, spamming them with your ads - it will eventually lose you followers. It's a difficult balance to reach.

I follow both LLL and Varese on both Facebook and Twitter, and think they utilize both well. They both could probably stand to make their presence known more on Twitter (more Tweets = more visibility), but they definitely get the information out there.

I recently saw this film, and it made my appreciation of the score go up quite a bit. I love this score now. I love the flow of the album, I think it has a strong narrative flow. I don't think it's too long at all, I think it flows nicely. Strong beginning, middle, and end. Good stuff!

I have to agree with you. I received my CD from amazon.com.UK over a week ago and listened to it a few days before we searched out the movie. We had to search hard, but found it and love the score even more now! As you said strong score.

Before seeing the movie, I didn't really recognize some of the recurring themes, and no no idea what they represented.

Now it's clear there's a theme for Jupiter, a theme for home/family, a theme for Cain, and of course the theme for the Abrasax siblings. There's probably even more than that!

I also really loved that short film version cue of the "I hate my life" montage - that was ace! I'd double-dip for a complete score release for sure!

I got the import from Amazon UK. It's nice but I'm looking forward to the bigger Varese booklet with notes by Giacchino. Hopefully he makes it clear which music was written before the film was shot and which was written to picture, and talks about the creative process and what it was like to write all the themes without a film existing yet.

I just got the import and listened through (saw the movie about a month ago). I REALLY like the opening "movements," so much so that I was ready to shout from the rooftops about a new top-3 Giacchino score for me - but as the first listen went on, the album was a bit too lengthy and action-heavy for me. Little bit of fatigue set in. I'll definitely give it a little time to grow, and I know the opening tracks will get a lot of play individually as well.

That's my reaction, too. Why so serious? Mighty impressive stuff, but where's the levity and jollity of his other space adventures? That said, I've found that separating the "symphony" out as its own short album and trimming a little of what's left results in a might fine listen that's not too tiring for the ears.

'Jupiter Ascending' is making a lot of money overseas

Hopefully this film will get a new life on home video and more people will be made aware of its great score.

Any news on the Varese version of the OST?

Funnily enough after today's conversation - my package from Amazon.Co.UK arrived today, with the Sony version of the Jupiter Asending OST inside smile

When I get my copy of the Varese version, I'll take pics of both to show the packaging differences

Please do ! It will help me decide whether the Varese is worth it, otherwise I'll stick with the Sony release.

Varese's website is still claiming this was released last week, but I certainly haven't gotten my copy in the mail, or have read online anywhere that anybody has.

So.... anybody here received theirs, or even a shipping notice?
