I watched Black sails from the beginning. First two series were ok. Just started series 3 i think and im getting a bit lost with which captain with which crew and who is sailing where and its getting a bit samey.

So often these things start out ok but just seem to run out of ideas and become convoluted and a bit lost.

Your so right on about this. I can't tell you how many series start out with a great premise, but quickly goes down hill because they don't know where to take the story. Or they write themselves into a corner and just "reboot" the whole thing in the middle of the series.

As for stuff that's actually on the box, in the UK the Fox channel have been reshowing the whole of Bones, I always loved that show, they're showing two a day & I'm way behind with about 50 shows to catch up on, & there's a channel reshowing Scrubs two a day, I'd forgotten how good this show is (but Zach Braff's career never quite took off after the show finished), again I'm way behind, just what did we do before video recording devices came along.

I mentioned it earlier but the Italian crime/drugs gang thriller set in naples GOMORRAH really is excellent. The one programme i look forward to every week. S3 has just started. Excellent atmospheric music by Mokadelic too.

Just finished binge watching all 4 seasons of Black Mirror.

Bleak. And Harrowing. And utterly brilliant.

You're in Ozland. I dunno if Charlie Brooker is big there. Charlie is a fantastic wit and an incisive critic who wrote 'Black Mirror'. He has his own satire shows, like 'Screenwipe'. Here he is talking about Black Mirror:

Watched the first three episodes of American Horror Story S1, seriously weird & twisted stuff, but I like it.

Thanks for posting those. I did notice that all the episodes were the work of Charlie Brooker. I had no idea who he was....but after watching the series I just assumed that he was some sort of deranged individual writing episodes from the basement of his mother's house.

Very surprised to see the funny and engaging person that he actually is.

Finished watching Westworld S1 tonight, I loved it & thought it was brilliant. Finished American Horror Show S1 last night, enjoyed that & have the other seasons to watch now, & finished GOT S7 a few days ago, great stuff. Lots more unwatched box sets to go, Deadwood, Dexter, Black Sails, Big Little Lies, Spartacus, Carnivale...& lots more, not watching many movies right now.

Poldark series 1. It's actually really decent. Rollicks along at a decent pace and the scenery and design is great.

WARNING.WARNING!!!!
RAY DONOVAN

Avoid the recent season at all costs.
Even though I -like many other viewers - fast -forwarded thru half the season, it is still a waste of time.
The show was always a guilty pleasure as a wallow on Hollywood decadence and perversion but this season also spends half the time in cancer wards watching people waste away!

The product placement - always shameless - reaches a new low.
Whole scenes, whole episodes are written around certain fast food restaraunts, hotels, and medical clinics. Its basically a 12 hour commercial for Mercedes Benz.
Jon Voight has pages of dialog that exist merely for him to mention a product, "Thanks for the tab"

If the show returns, I wont be there!

Half way thru TABOO..
Boy has this show gone into the crapper fast. Convoluted as hell and visually so dark as to be indecipherable.
If Tom Hardy "Britain's Brando" wasn't the star i would bail.

Gomorra is just the best thing on t.v at the moment.

S3 is just superb. Anyone who liked Godfather or goodfellas - this is the modern-day naples equivalent.

Lots of action and drama among young drug gangs and established mafia, very effective music, skullduggery, treachery, drug deals, power battles. scheming, endless hits, and those tactical hits that make other things happen. And More hits.

Finished the first season of Black Sails & really enjoyed it (although two of my favourite characters were killed), I'll give it a month or so before the second season. I watched the first episode of Dexter tonight, I think I'm going to love this series. Just so many great TV box sets to look at.
