Thanks for posting the Camelot 3000 art Gordon. I have never read the story, but I acquired the trade paperback a few conventions ago and forgot about it. Thanks to your post I dug it out and added it to my "to read" pile. Looking forward to reading it.

Vigilante was such a killer book. Damn, comics in the '80s were awesome! I think Vigilante's going to be introduced in one of DC's CW shows, but he really should be in a movie. That was not a comic "for the kiddies"! The New Teen Titans Annual that introduced was awesome, too. Gettin' chills remembering the cover. I'll have to dig that baby out and give it a serious revisit. While I remember his Teen Titans debut, I liked that Adrian Chase was largely removed from the superhero aspect of the DCU, like how the war and western characters (mostly) were and Master of Kung Fu was over at Marvel. I only had issues from the first year of Vigilante and I liked the "garish" colors and improved paper, even if it didn't seem like the pages would hold together for long. Speaking of which, I liked the Baxter(?) paper and that bright coloring style! Yes, it had flaws, but damn it I liked it! Yeah, Vigilante was great stuff, though I lost track of it and most comics after 1984; I've since caught up with the DC superheroes, but ol' Vig deserves a revisitation, too. I have that aforementioned NIGHT FORCE book on my radar, as I've been in a major Gene Colan state of mind lately. Remember The Badger? lol I Not DC, but liked the one issue I actually have!

Yeah, Vig was "street level," like Black Lightning, Daredevil, Power Man & Iron Fist, etc. Speaking of which, I liked the Baxter(?) paper and that bright coloring style! Yes, it had flaws, but damn it I liked it! I loved the Baxter stock. That's what Frank Miller's Ronin was printed on, too. Now that's another '80s milestone. Frank and a few others pretty much owned the decade. Remember The Badger? lol I Not DC, but liked the one issue I actually have! Yeah, I had some issues of Badger. I sold my #1 way back in high school for $10 because this dude I knew was really into it and needed it to complete his collection. Same publisher as Nexus.

Michael Scorefan: I "owe" you a DC Comics Presents #97 review, and I apologize for not getting around to reading it, but soon, my friend. I just have so much ahead of it to read--and review, which I do for every comic I read, sadly--which leads me to my next DC-related thought No worries. I have stacks of books and comics waiting to be read. Sadly only so many hours in the day . . . I recently got issues JLA #183-185 which were gaping holes (yuck) in my JLA collection, but I finally got some "very good" condition copies off ebay for a swell price. There has been much written online about this plot being the JLA movie plot--which we won't discuss yet since I'm spoilerphobic--but I will read these comics since I've been so excited about finally getting them aft all these years. Darkseid was a rarity in the DC of my youth other than his appearances in the 1984-85 Super Friends cartoon, so it will be fun to read him in his original comic form. https://magisterrex.wordpress.com/2017/02/05/obsolete-comic-review-justice-league-of-america-crisis-on-new-genesis/ I haven't read that storyline. If it provides inspiration for the upcoming Justice League movie, DC will undoubtedly be reprinting it soon, so I will have to track it down that way. Darkseid's appearances in Superfriends and the Super Powers toy line really did put him on the map. Post Crisis he seemed to be popping up everywhere. Here is a list of Darkseid's 10 best stories that I found interesting. It is close to 10 years old, so there might be some more recent stories missing, though I can't think of what they would be: https://comicreadersregina.wordpress.com/2009/07/06/top-10-darkseid-stories/ I always liked Cosmic Odyssey with some fantastic Mignola art, and the X-Men/New Teen Titans cross-over by Chris Claremont in his prime and some wonderful art by the great Walt Simonsson.

Every time I see this thread lately, with the "Camelot 3000 Redux" header, I keep thinking, "Wait, DC did a comic adaptation of the old Italian erotica film with the great Piccioni score?" (See, Jim, like I said in the other thread, I just don't have much worthwhile to add in this one right now. )

Right now I've just started reading the Gerry Conway run on Batman and Detective Comics. Gene Colan gets an awesomely warm DC welcome in Batman #340; Gentleman Gene got the bum's tush from Marvel E-in-C Shooter and so Colan joined his former fellow Marvelites Len Wein, Marv Wolfman, Roy Thomas, and Conway at The Distinguished Competition. Phelpsian Hero Doug Moench would join that illustrious group two years later. I'm a big admirer of Gene Colan's work so that Night Force book is going to be fun to read (Marv's too, even if he did write Crisis on Infinite Earths, which "killed" my childhood).

When you get around to cracking open a comic book or trade or hardback, why not chime in on what you've read? Will do. Been reading the Valerian comics from the beginning in new omnibus editions, which is a lot more fun than the movie, sad to say. But that's for another thread. I'll be back when I've done some Delightful Consumption.
