Let me tell you something pal, if a film/filmamker was a big influence on say ALfred Hitchcock,'Orson Welles, Steven Spielberg or David Lean , then I might care.

But , the fact that some obscure Hong Kong or Australian exploitation flic influenced
KILL BILL ......

Not the nearly-extinct, showing-gratitude use of the words, but when said as a way of telling someone to stop talking, making a point rudely, and in that "You can leave the room now" sort of way.

Also brands of pet food that claim, "New, improved flavor!" Unless the dog/cat food companies have talking animals in their employ, how do they know...?
