Jon who? Sorry, you're going way before my time now. I mean no disrespect by that, I legit have never heard of the guy. I only know Doctor Who past 2005, and that's all I'm ever likely going to pay an interest to. I'm a fan, but far from anything die-hard. I fall pretty firmly into the "casual" fan group.
I also only know Capaldi from his time as The Doctor.
In case you was wondering, my favorite Doctor by far currently is Matt Smith. He's who made me a fan in the first place.

In my opinion Capaldi was wrongly cast as the Doctor. I didn't like his performance at all. He tried to hard to be cool and he just isn't. But that's not to say he's a bad actor. Watch him in Torchwood: Children of Earth, and he puts on a heart wrenching performance.
Series 5 is my absolute favorite series and cast since the revival.

There are interviews with the four main cast members. The three behind the scenes pics are the same as the ones from Entertainment Weekly. There are also three pics of the companions from the teaser shown on Sunday.
It's the same uninspiring costume she was wearing a year ago. Her vacuous facial expression isn't filling me with much hope either. The whole thing looks like a depressing BBC exercise in diversity.

As a lifelong fan I can honestly say that I've felt not one shred of excitement for the coming series. Nothing I've seen (apart from Bradley Walsh) has done anything but rather depress me.
