Since this is about television shows, not films, I didn't count the PARANORMAL ACTIVITY films, Richard.

Thanks for the recommendation of A HAUNTING. My experience with documentary series about paranormal activities isn't the best. It often succums to the ridiculous, including the "re-enactments" or using "psychics" that most likely have psychological issues of some sort. But maybe this is the exception that proves the rule!

(I love paranormal fiction, but I feel sorry for those who believe it in real life).

You feel sorry for those who believe in the paranormal?

What's that all about?

Have you had a paranormal experience?

Why are you interested in the paranormal in the first place?

Alright, I realize I could be steppin' on people's toes with that statement. I like to consider myself more tolerant than that. If you believe in it, then that's fine by me.

Personally, my fascination is only in its fictional realization.

I'm not sure if anyone is acquainted with this series. Garth Marenghi's Darkplace. A funny series, for all the wrong reasons.

Sure. No offense taken. You never felt the presence of a family member who's died? Perhaps you need more life experience to believe.

Anyhow, check out two box-sets released by the British Film Institute. Ghost Stories For Christmas and The Complete Ghost Stories of M.R. James. On the dry side -- you know the Brits -- but these are the most potent ghost stories ever told on television. My personal favorite is "Whistle and I'll Come To You" (1968) a widely acknowledged classic. Both are 5-disc sets. In PAL region 2 so if you're stateside you'll need a multi-region player.

I've added the recent show DIG to the list. I'm not sure how many paranormal elements there are (if any), but it seems like a great mystery series -- even with Norwegian plotlines!

Just finished the second season of HELIX, and MY GOD -- what happened there?

How can a series with such a brilliant first season go so completely haywire in the second? Please, just cancel this trainwreck already.

Thor, I reviewed the past few pages here but I cannot see if you have watched "Sleepy Hollow" yet or not. Its a fun ride of a show with a good cast and the 2 leads play off of each other real well.

That's true. I haven't checked out that yet. I like the Burton film, but from what I saw of the trailers of the tv show, it seemed rather watered-out and catering to teens?!? In any case, I will certainly check that out now that you've alerted me to it again.

The show is nothing at all like Tim Burtons film, which I liked a lot myself. No, this show owes much of its flavor and style to Supernatural. Lots of good one off lines and a bit of self knowing. It's a lot of fun in it's own creepy style.

If it's crap and on "SYFY" it won't be cancelled, they only cancel good shows that deserve more seasons see: Caprica, Stargate: Universe, Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome, & others.

True, but it started out as a wonderful series on the level of those shows you mention (I was nailed to the seat each episode, and just wanted more), then something must have happened between seasons, because the second was just painful to get through. What a mystery!

Loved Deep Space Nine (my favorite of the Star Treks) & enjoyed The Next Generation a great deal, disliked Enterprise.
