I do not purport to be a film music aficionado, nor am I buying this album. I have zero interest in westerns, unless they are covered with tomato sauce and parmesan cheese.
I don't generally like to announce what I'm not buying, because I greatly admire LLL for taking a chance on a score from this era. But like a few others here, I'm not a Tiomkin guy. I've tried, believe me. But the Tiomkins I can listen to I can count on one hand (and still have some fingers left over). He's just not my thing.
I love scores from this era. Put a Waxman, or a Herrmann, or a Friedhofer, Raksin, North (etc.) up for sale and I am powerless to resist. But Tiomkin grates on me. So no sale to me. I hope it sells wonderfully to other people, though.
Me, too old school for my taste. Plus I don't even know what an OK Corral is. I suspect a place where people shoot at each other when an 80's score gets released?
Those who purport to be film music aficionados but do not purchase such a great score need to be exposed here as charlatans. Admit your folly by adding your name to this List of Shame if you do not intend to acquire this long-lost and now miraculously-resurrected score.
Nope not me. But I can't wait for the remake with a Hans Zimmer score
