Well it's available on iTunes, I bought it earlier today. A nice score but it won't go down as one of Elfman's best. Some great moments though.

I just listened to it, and it was kind of all over the places. Can anyone list all the existing pieces woven into the score?

Well, I saw this movie yesterday with my 4 year old daughter and enjoyed it very much. The score is pretty excellent actually. I'll be ordering now. You can always count on Elfman to deliver.

Beethoven's Fifth makes an appearance I believe. Also a fanfare from an old Roman-ish movie. Ben-Hur? Spartacus? I dunno

Has anyone bought the CD in Europe?
US version is a digipack but if there is regular jewel case version available somewhere in the world, I would prefer an upgrade...

The snippets/quotes I can recall are the French National Anthem (a few times), Brazil (which is credited), the Wedding March and a brief blast of Call Of The Champions by John Williams.
It's been some time since I've heard Elfman in real cartoon mode, aping his Pee Wee/Back To School style.
It's a bit too manic and disparate at times, but there are some good moments in amongst the whack-ness.

Orders from Amazon UK have also been digipack. There seems to be 5 or more variations of artwork on the outer sleeve.

I got the jewel case version from amazon.co.uk. Didn't realise there were variations.

there seems to be quite a confusion.

Although this version is listed as EU release, I've got one with the same artwork from Intrada and it's a digipack.

This one, on the other hand, although listed as import (while it's probably european pressing) is supposed to be regular jewel case, right?

I like a lot of Elfman's work but this music for a children's film just isn't to my taste. Over busy, Micky Mouse music. However, at this stage of his career, Elfman can score what he likes and good luck to him.

Me? I'm listening to 'Promised Land' and The Next Three Days'.

I have the first cover, and it's a digipack. Ordered from Amazon.ca.

Gotta say a lot of his scores leave me cold, and a lot of them remind me too much of either Edward Scissorhands, or Batman, but I was totally delighted throughout his score for Mr Peabody and Sherman. It is a terrific little picture, and his score is a delightfully bright and truly orchestral piece.

Throughout the picture I thought this is the kind of full bore score that Jerry Goldsmith treated his animated movies with, rich with themes and large scale orchestrations. I am really impressed with his Mr. Peabody score, I cannot praise it enough. Compliments to Elfman and to director Rob Minkoff for pushing for this kind of score.

Not heard it yet, rented the movie today, but the music that is looped in the menu is very good. I hadn't realised it was Elfman at all.

Just caught the film itself last night now that it's on Netflix at my girlfriend's insistence.

I listened to the score a bit when it was released and liked it well enough. One thing that was not on the CD however was a big Don Davis quote from his Matrix scores during an action sequence set in ancient Egypt. Nice surprise.
