Well, the film reviews seem to be quite optimistic... and there is hardly that many really good movies this year... I can't really think of anything from this year I'd like besides Whiplash. I am definitely curious to see The Drop, The Homesman and True Story, but The Drop isn't opening here until January and no dates announced for the other two either :-/

I just got back from watching this outstanding movie.
Beltrami's score is subtle, thoughtful, and powerful. This is further evidence how special and versatile a composer he really is!
This film blew me away. We had just watched 'Locke' and I was already astonished by what Tom Hardy can do - and then this. His performance strikes me as almost iconic - on a level with Brando in 'On the Waterfront' or De Niro in 'Taxi Driver'. The incredible subtlety of Hardy's performance is matched by Beltrami's score, which if it isn't released on CD will be one of my major disappointments of this year. Beltrami churns under the drama throughout and then delivers an absolutely beautiful 'resolution' theme during the end credits.
Movie of the year IMO. Saw it week it came out. Cant stop thinking about Tom Hardys performance. Oscar for sure. Put my name on it! Gandolfini was a genius. I Love that man. Loved the score as well-needs to be released. Going to see THE DROP again today and the GONE GIRL.
