Speechless.

The first time I've truly been surprised by a release in a very long time.

I don't think this Goldsmith gem will last for long, a few days maybe?

Oh I dunno, sixties Goldsmith doesn't seem to sell as well as the later stuff. Lonely Are The Brave was around for a good long while, the same with In Harm's Way & the FSM Rio Conchos was around for about ten years (well something like that, I can't be bothered to check). So if I'm right, 4-6 months time it'll still be around.

The film is not a comedy, but a sly thriller with a gimmick (cameos by stars wearing rubber masks), & a great over the top performance by George C Scott. It's a very enjoyable movie.

Finally! The Goldsmith Grand Prize! My Soundtrack collection is now complete.
Varese my sincere and humble appreciation. I was beginning to think I would never see this in my lifetime.

VARESE!

I knew Varese would one day get around to releasing this and it's finally here! This is one of my last 3 holy grails and the one I wanted the most. All is well with the world today!

On a post a few days ago I said my chances of Varese releasing this as their next club title were 99.999% nil. Never have I been so happy to be utterly wrong. Thanks Varese !

A childhood dream comes true at last!

And it means even more now than it would have back when I was young. Varese is right -- JG was a master of the craft even then. Listen to the cinematic storytelling as Jerry weaves together a myriad of themes and motifs to tie threads together -- brilliant!

Yes this is an OMG moment. I've wanted this score since I saw the movie as a 10-year old kid in 1963. A very long wait -- and now it's here. The score just fits the quirkiness of the film so well -- adding elements of mystery and weirdness. I love the film, too, which for me has always seemed as though it were set in a Twilight Zone England -- sort of a strange alternate universe in which anyone might be a lurking fiend.

I also picked up the Velazquez limited edition Midas Box -- the samples sounded wonderful to me.

My sentiments exactly John. With this now on order I'm racking mt brains for any remaining unreleased Goldsmith Holy Grails?

I admit, when I first saw List was ready, I thought it was an early April Fool's joke. If it is, well, varese is $25+ richer for it. If it isn't, then I'm the clear winner...as are all Goldsmith fans out there. Thanks, Varese!!

The score is more thematic than I expected for this time period. I might pick this up.

Great music! It's a pity it's in mono

Seriously? I can't believe this is a complaint for anyone. Is it any less audible?

In any case, I've never heard it and need to save money (unlike those buying multiple copies for no discernible reason) so this'll be a pass for me.

I've heard about this score for ages, but perusing the available clips is the first time I've actually listened to it...wow, what a score! eek This is mono? Sounded pretty stereo-ized and crisp and vibrant on my headphones. I will probably order this along with one or two VC sale discs to save on shipping.

Ils auraient quand même pu mieux faire niveau jaquette...

Well, unless you only have one ear, it's always more satisfying to listen to recordings in stereo, especially when you use headphones. Unfortunately, in this case such recording is not available, and that's why it's a pity. It's like watching Star Wars in B&W. Watchable? yes. Could be better? yes

Wow, board members have been expecting this release for what 5 years at least? I guess there's an important lesson in there about never giving up hope about score releases. If anyone's looking for something to pair with this, may I suggest: Freud and The Red Pony, both of which are on sale and both of which are stellar.

Chris.
