I don't think I ever bought an LP solely because of the cover, although a striking cover may have tipped the scales if I was debating with myself about buying it. With over 4,000 CDs, many hundreds are upgrades (some would disagree with that word!) for favorite LPs. When I bought my very heavy Stanton turntable, I transferred several prized LPs that had never been released on CD to digital, such as Patrick Gowers' guitar-centered soundtrack for the Glenda Jackson film "Stevie," and various other things. One of these days I may set that turntable on top of my components and plug it into my receiver to listen to records I haven't heard in several decades.

As for album covers, there was a time when I even framed a few that were quite distinctive, and once a friend asked me to frame a favorite LP he had by violinist Yehudi Menuhin.
