Trailer:

http://deadline.com/2014/10/in-the-heart-of-the-sea-trailer-ron-howard-moby-dick-852903/

Cinematography looks good (same guy who shot ANTICHRIST for Lars Von Trier), hopefully everything else follows suit - At least we know we'll probably have a wonderful score to look forward to!

I really enjoyed the book, looking forward to this film. I started watching the trailer, but thought no, if you're going to watch the movie, then you're better off not watching the trailer these days.

I spy some funky special effects but can't wait to hear Baños' score.

I second this notion. I LOVE the form he's developed of late, since around 2010's THE LAST CIRCUS. He's always been hugely talented but he's really come into his "voice" in the past five years. Can't wait to see and hear what the future holds for him!

Looks amazing. I don't venture to theatres too much but I'm totally seeing this in IMAX

This film was due to open last March, but was postponed to the end of the year (Christmas day), I don't know why, maybe they wanted to get an Oscar nod.

Looking at the trailer it looks like they've sexed the story up a bit. Once the whale has attacked & sunk the ship it swims away, but looking at this & other trailers it looks like it hangs around to try to kill the survivors. Great book, I hope the film's good.

I bet everyone here one thousand U.S. dollars that this sounds exactly like Zimmer when it comes out.

This is one of my favourite books. I even got the books by two of the crew that survived, i was so impressed by the tale. Im hoping the film is worth a watch and the music is worth a listen. I only have Roque Banos' The Machinist, which i love, but that's very Herrmann.

As long as the big thematic highlights don't, a la his score to OLDBOY which is imbued with a few moments of gut-wrenching lyricism, then I don't care if there are a few concessions to modern "Hollywood" scoring here and there.

Oh yikes. I know these are only 30 second clips, but this sounds RIDICULOUSLY generic.

Only in "The Story is Told" do I hear any of Banos' signature sound at all.

Dammit. I was hoping for something spectacular. If we're lucky, maybe it will prove to be an "Oldboy" type situation where a largely generic effort still manages to yield about 15 minutes of excellent material in Banos' own voice.

Well bobb, bear in mind that Howard has been using Zimmer for his previous films and fell out with Horner on The Missing.
I'm half expecting The Force Awakens to sound sampled and processed!!

Really? In that case... I think I am done with Banos.

He hasn't done anything good since Balada triste de trompeta and it has been one disappoinment after the other since.

I hear The Maldives are nice at this time of year.

12% of the score heard in little bits and pieces -- time to write it off!

True. Still, the first impression makes me wonder why Howard wanted Banos when he actually wanted a generic Zimmer-like score.

Banos has created such memorable, haunting music before which certainly would have fit with an epic adventure story like this one.
